NTT makes Dimension Data offer

Japan-based global telecoms service provider NTT has tabled a US$3.22 billion cash offer for IT services and solutions provider Dimension Data. The bid has been unanimously recommended by both boards of directors. NTT has already received irrevocable undertakings to accept the bid from Dimension Data directors, Venfin DDHoldings and Allan Gray – together accounting for approximately 52% of Dimension Data’s issued shares. Prolinx picks up Five IT

UK-based systems integrator Prolinx has acquired consultancy outfit Five IT. The deal represents the third acquisition by Prolinx in the last 12 months. Five IT specializes in providing virtualisation services to the commercial sector. Prolinx reckons that its latest purchase is another pillar in its quest to become a leading provider of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), building upon its expertise as a systems integrator of virtualisation, data management and infrastructure technologies. HP and Axoft extend agreement

Russian distribution outfit Axoft has extended its partnership with vendor giant HP to cover services as well as software. Axoft is a major player in the distribution of software in Russia and will now have the ability to push HP Care Pack Services alongside the vendor’s software products to channel partners. Techserve bags Bose services gig

UAE after-sales service provider outfit Techserve has been named as a UAE services partner for audio manufacturer Bose. The deal paves the way for Techserve to provide installation and repair services for Bose products sold in the UAE. Techserve, which is part of the Al-Futtaim Group, also holds service partnerships with Nokia, Sony Vaio, Panasonic, Toshiba and Sanyo plus several other vendors. Read full story

Al-Futtaim CEO to speak at DCC MEA

Robert A. Willett, the recently appointed group CEO at Al-Futtaim, will deliver the opening keynote speech at this year’s Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) Middle East & Africa (MEA) event. Willett previously served as CEO of Best Buy International – a strategic business unit of US consumer electronics and IT retail giant Best Buy. He was also Chairman of Best Buy Europe – the unit that formed a joint venture with Carphone Warehouse – until his retirement from the role in January 2010. Read full story

i-Teco picks up HP award

Russian systems integrator and corporate reseller i-Teco has picked up a software award from HP. i-Teco has been named as an HP business technology optimisation (BTO) partner of the year on the basis of its activity in 2009. The award recognised i-Teco’s successful sales and implementation of HP BTO projects including software solutions to automate IT governance. Read full story

Etisalat opens up at Mirdif mall

UAE-based telecoms operator Etisalat has opened its 38th retail outlet. The latest addition to Etisalat’s growing retail network is located at the recently opened Mirdif City Centre mall in Dubai. Etisalat claims that the outlet offers customers a broad range of landline, mobile, broadband and entertainment services. Read full story
