Logica and Microsoft form cloud alliance

IT services outfit Logica has formed a strategic alliance with Microsoft to bring new cloud solutions to the EMEA market. Using Microsoft’s public and private cloud offering, Logica reckons that the alliance deal will drive a 10% boost to its cloud revenues during 2011. The two companies reckon that clients will benefit from the combination of Logica’s business consulting skills and Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform, Hyper-V Cloud and Microsoft Office 365. McAfee names new EMEA channel boss

Security solutions vendor McAfee has recruited David Small from Juniper to become its new VP for channel and commercial business in EMEA. Georges Millet, McAfee’s previous channel VP in EMEA, has left the company to pursue other business opportunities. Gert-Jan Schenk, EMEA president at McAfee since late 2010 also joined the vendor from Juniper. Read full story

Track trains resellers on Cisco solutions

Track Distribution, the Aptec-owned entity created from global giant Tech Data’s offloaded Middle East enterprise and components business, has completed a successful Cisco small business event in Dubai for the reseller channel. SIT opens HTC service centre in Khobar

SIT Distribution has beefed up its support network for mobile device vendor HTC in Saudi Arabia. SIT, an authorised HTC distributor, has opened a new service centre in Khobar. The fully-equipped centre will provide customers in Khobar with a comprehensive range of services including consultations on new and existing HTC devices, warranty repairs and post-sales support. Avnet strikes Resolutions MSP deal

Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS) has struck an EMEA distribution deal with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider Resolutions MSP. The two companies claim that the deal enables them to target the VAR channel with a new anti-malware and back-up and recovery solutions developed to meet the needs of SMB end users.
