Super six for Sourcefire

Enterprise threat management solution provider Sourcefire has named six new partners in the EMEA market. The company reckons that its expanded channel network will pave the way for further growth in the international market. Sourcefire has signed up Group IB in Russia, BT Cybernetworks in France, Naizak in Saudi Arabia, Vistorm in the UK, Calyx in Ireland, Integralis in Sweden, IT Cube in Germany and Axians in the Netherlands. Senior European executives quit Westcon

Two of Westcon’s senior European executives are leaving the networking distribution outfit. Barry Shakespeare, executive VP of Westcon Group Europe has resigned and will exit the stage on January 30th 2009 (probably not pursued by a bear). European financial director Jon Toohey has also resigned after holding the position for three years and will be replaced by Richard Hodgetts, previously Westcon Group’s UK finance director. Extreme names new MEA boss

Extreme Networks has appointed Aziz Ala’ali as regional director for its MEA operation. Ala’ali has more than fifteen years experience in the region’s IT sector, holding senior positions at a number of vendors including APC, Microsoft and IBM. In his new role Ala’ali will look to expand Extreme’s channel in the region and provide on the ground support to existing partners. Read full story

Lenovo looks to expand Middle East channel

Lenovo has launched its latest channel promotion in the Middle East for business partners. The Lenovo ‘Good Idea’ programme offers a range of incentives to support business partners as the vendor looks to expand its channel network in the region. Lenovo is actively recruiting new business partners in the region. As part of the ’Good Idea’ business partner drive, Lenovo is offering new partners special activation pricing until 31st December 2008. Read full story

Online rebrands as Westcon Middle East

Middle East value-added networking outfit Online Distribution has rebranded itself as Westcon Middle East, as networking channel giant Datatec looks to bring some brand cohesion to its sprawling business empire. Both Online Distribution and Westcon are owned by South African-quoted Datatec. The company also owns Comstor, which is itself a division of Westcon. Read full story

Aptec and 3Com plan SMB seminars

Aptec Distribution has announced plans to hold a series of workshops across the GCC alongside networking vendor 3Com. The seminars, which will be called ‘Switch to 3Com’, will focus on reaching out to resellers that sell into the small and medium business (SMB) end-user segment. Zycko lands LifeSize deal

European value-added distributor Zycko has struck a deal with LifeSize Communications, a high definition (HD) video communications solutions supplier.
