Ingram Micro reports fourth quarter figures

Global distribution giant Ingram Micro saw fourth quarter sales slide13% year-on-year to US$8.68 billion. The company posted a fourth quarter net loss of US$564.3 million including a goodwill impairment charge of US$742.6m. EMEA fourth quarter sales accounted for 34% of global sales, bringing in US$2.95 billion – down 21% year-on-year. Read full story

Netbooks support EMEA PC market

The fast-growing market for netbooks helped to nurse the EMEA PC market through a tough fourth quarter in 2008, according to the numbercrunchers at IDC. Total PC unit sales were up just 1.8% year-on-year to 29.13 million units. HP claimed top spot with 21.6% market share, shifting 6.29 million units, with Acer in second place pumping 4.82 million units through the EMEA channel. Read full story

HP-Redington furore is misplaced

HP Middle East and Redington Gulf have found themselves at the centre of some unwanted and undeserved media attention, after the publication of a report in the Boston Globe newspaper earlier this week, which centred on a distribution deal between the two parties to sell kit from the vendor’s imaging and printing group (IPG) into Iran. Sitronics boosts sales in second quarter

Russian IT and telecoms giant Sitronics has posted strong second quarter results with sales climbing 47% year-on-year to US$481m. Sitronics’ IT revenues contributed US$188.2m to the total – an increase of 35% for this segment year-on-year. Operating profit before depreciation and amortisation hit US$25.4m – a reversal from a loss of US$27.2m a year earlier in the second quarter of 2007. Read full story
