Wexler to showcase tablet credentials

Russian e-book and tablet PC powerhouse Wexler will showcase the full breadth and depth of its portfolio at DISTREE Russia & CIS 2013 later this month. The three-day event gathers senior buyers from the region’s leading retailers and resellers for pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with participating vendors.

Celebrating its 10th annual event in 2013, DISTREE Russia & CIS has become a ‘must attend’ annual channel event for vendors looking to manage, build or launch routes-to-market in the vast and fast-growing Russia & CIS region.

Leo Prozument, managing director at Wexler, said: “We are focusing on building our sales channels with our assortment of tablets. We have been a leader in development of e-readers during the past few years and we recognised a need to strategically shift our focus toward the trend for mobile solutions such as tablets.”

Wexler claims that it was a leader in the Russian e-books and tablet PC market in 2011-2012. Wexler’s current channel reach spans Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and Romania, plus additional territories.

During DISTREE Russia & CIS 2013, Wexler will showcase a range of 7” and 10” tablets designed to meet the everyday needs of the region’s consumers.

“We want our customers to know that our product line covers all solutions, design trends and pricing levels,” added Prozument.

“During the last 12 months we have seen our regional and second tier retail customers increasing their presence and challenging some of the federal chains,” he continued. “Of course IT channels have always been strong in the market. Additionally, we see a lot of our competition moving toward sales of smartphones.”

Federal retail chains still account for 80% of Wexler’s business, but the company still sees significant growth opportunities in various regions across Russia. In addition, countries such as Belarus and Kazakhstan offer tremendous growth opportunities, according to Prozument.

“Wexler’s channel proposition is based on aesthetically pleasing designs, the latest technical specifications and competitive pricing,” explained Prozument. “Our priority is always to provide our partners with an opportunity to make the highest margin possible. During the development process, the first step is to always analyse the demands of the retailers and the pricing expectations they will have before making a decision on whether to buy or not.”

Wexler offers strong marketing support and extensive advertising across public transport, print and TV media. While recent growth has been slower than expected, Wexler believes that the remainder of 2013 will see a pick-up in sales and a strong finish to the year.

“Our overall goal is to provide our partners with the support that they need in terms of wide assortment, quick replenishment of stock and pricing that allows everyone to make expected profits,” Prozument continued.

“We are fairly new to the tablet market and are therefore hungry for business. We are very flexible in offering programmes that would meet the specific requirements of each distributor and their respective territories,” he concluded.
