60 Seconds to Convince at DISTREE Latin America

Hundreds of Latin America’s top ICT and consumer electronics (CE) retailers and distributors evaluated the latest products ready to hit the regional market today. A total of 26 vendors participated in today’s ‘60 Seconds to Convince’ Awards at DISTREE Latin America 2012, competing in three award categories: product design, product innovation and best presentation. Channel delegates voted live to select the overall winners.

In the product design category four vendors progressed through to the final: Urban Factory, Port Designs, Mimoco and Acteck Technology. Urban Factory emerged as the overall winner securing 48% of the final live electronic vote.

Urban Factory’s music ball speaker impressed the audience of retailers and distributors from across Latin America. The device turns any container into a speaker and was effectively demonstrated on stage using a cardboard box as a makeshift speaker.

A total of 16 vendors entered the product innovation category using a variety of props (including a table tennis demonstration) to showcase their wares. Seven vendors made it through to the final: Perfect Choice, Siano, Iris, Promate, Transcend, Trendnet and Lexibook.

The final live vote to decide the overall winner in the innovation category is scheduled to take place during tomorrow’s DISTREE Latin America conference programme.

As well as picking their preferred products, the channel partners attending the session were also invited to select their favourite presentation from the 26 entrants. Urban Factory, Acteck, Siano, Promate and Panacom were the five finalists selected by the audience. Siano won the final with 26% of the live vote, followed closely by Urban Factory with 25% and Promate with 21%.

During the next two days, participating vendors at DISTREE Latin America will participate in pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with distributors and retailers from across the region. The DISTREE Matching Squad is also in operation this week, allowing channel partners to request additional meetings with manufacturers that they are interested in adding to their portfolio.

The ’60 Seconds to Convince’ Awards programme gives retailers and distributors an early opportunity to assess products offered by participating vendors and arrange follow-up meetings during the remaining two days of the event.
