Channel delegates from across Latin America were brought up to speed on the regional strategies for Kaspersky, Port Designs and Energy Sistem at DISTREE Latin America today. Claudio Martinelli, Latin America consumer manager at Kaspersky, started the session, explaining why the security solutions vendor was the smart partnership choice for distributors and retailers in the region.

“Why choose Kaspersky?” asked Martinelli. “Kaspersky is a premium brand and that means a better value proposition for retailers in Latin America. If consumers want a ‘so-so’ product they can get one for free on the internet. If they want something stronger they choose Kaspersky.”

“Kaspersky is not the cheapest product but it is the brand that consumers want to buy when they enter the retail store. People are looking for our boxes on the shelves. If Latin America retailers put them there, they will sell,” he added.

Port Designs

Stephane Tripot, co-founder and general manager at France-based Port Designs was the next speaker in today’s Live@DISTREE. Port Designs is enthusiastic about growing its channel in Latin America, offering a wide range of bags and cases for different devices.

“Don’t think of Port as a bag company, we help customers protect and carry their devices,” explained Tripot. “We are committed to growing the business in Latin America and have a team of four people managing the region.”

Port has already experienced commercial success in Brazil opening up channels through hypermarkets and IT retailers. Now the company is ready to push on into other Latin American markets.

“Tablet is a big evolution that is happening now and Port is very focused on this market,” said Tripot. We work alongside retailers to increase attach rates and build their sellout.”

“We want to supply distributors and retailers with products that will move quickly,” he added. “Doing a good job is not about shipping volumes to distributors. It is about getting the products on retailer shelves and making the sellout happen.”

Energy Sistem

Pablo Vergel, international marketing manager at lifestyle device vendor Energy Sistem, then took to the stage to explain the company’s engagement model with consumers.

“Consumer emotions are key to what we do,” explained Vergel. “We want to evoke emotions and feelings in consumers. We want them to bond with our brand and products.”

Energy Sistem attended DISTREE Latin America in 2012 and has seen positive business developments in the region as a result.

“We started working with distributor Diverol in Uruguay as a result of meetings at DISTREE latin America,” explained Vergel. “A year ago we did not have any presence in Uruguay and now we are one of the leading consumer electronic brands in the country’s retail channel. We are working with retailers on merchandising, advertising and sponsorship initiatives.”

Energy Sistem is keen to replicate this success at this year’s event.

“We help partners with promotion and create demand in new markets,” declared Vergel. “We want distributors and retailers to come and meet us at DISTREE Latin America 2012. There are huge prospects for more profitable alliances in Latin America.”
