INTERVIEW: Dan Tsai, AirLive

Top distributors, retailers, e-tailers and marketplaces from across the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region are waking up to the fast-growing sales potential of smart home products and solutions. This month’s DISTREE EMEA hosted buyer channel event in Monaco will see a number of smart home brands accelerate their international routes-to-market. Channel EMEA caught up with Dan Tsai, sales manager at AirLive, a provider of networking and smart home products, to find out more about the company’s objectives at DISTREE EMEA 2019.

Channel EMEA (CE): What do you want to achieve at DISTREE EMEA 2019? What are your key goals for the event?

Dan Tsai (DT): Smart Home products are becoming one of the hot topics that most retail and distribution channels pay great attention to as they strive to catch the great businesses opportunities. AirLive is pleased to contribute to this new growing market by offering our easy to use smart home Internet of Things (IoT) innovations.

AirLive is pleased to be back at DISTREE EMEA and happy to introduce our smart solutions to the channel at this great event. We look forward to spreading the availability of AirLive smart home IoT kits to households through new channel partners. And of course, we also value the chance to hear feedback from channel partners during the event.

We will introduce and do a live demo that shows how easily AirLive smart IoT innovations can transform a general home to a smart home. At AirLive, we are sincere and like to work on a long-term basis with solid partners. We have partner programmes prepared that include fast delivery, excellent payment conditions, exemplary RMA or replacement services, plus well packaged products and marketing materials to drive sales.

CE: What products and solutions will you be showcasing at DISTREE EMEA 2019? What do you want distributors to know about AirLive’s portfolio?

DT: At DISTREE EMEA 2019, AirLive will introduce our Smart Life APP and smart home IoT innovations, which are Z-Wave Plus compliant. Voice operation is available in combination with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Google Assistant. To control lights by motion, by schedule or triggered events, this is all possible by using the AirLive Smart IoT kits. AirLive will do a simple but useful live demo to show distributors how every home can transform into a smart home easily.

People can buy the AirLive Starter kits as the first step. They are very suitable for retailers or channel clients. Users can buy additional devices to expand applications according to their needs day after day. No matter if you are looking for home safety security, lighting or small electric appliances control, energy monitoring or comfort living by single order or macro automation combination, AirLive’s complete smart home IoT solutions can do it.

CE: Describe how your channel business has developed in the past 12 months? What trends have you seen and what have been the highlights for your business?

DT: AirLive keeps developing channel business through new enhanced technologies, products, new partners, and new territories. CE: Which geographic areas and channels represent the greatest opportunity for growth for your company in EMEA and globally?

DT: Smart home IoT is a new growing business globally. The year-to-year growth ratio is around 40%. It is full of opportunities to grow the business for AirLive in EMEA and globally. For example, smart home solutions are in big demand in Japan. AirLive is also working with channel partners to go into major chain stores in Japan in 2019.

CE: Why should distributors and retailers focus on your products? What makes your channel proposition better than competitors in the market?

DT: Boutique products at affordable prices – that is what AirLive smart home IoT innovations focus on. Continuity is also one of our advantages - AirLive keeps developing advanced innovations which extend business value. Furthermore, AirLive selects solid channel partners instead of trying to sell products everywhere. This can bring much more margin potential to our partners.

CE: What sort of support do you offer distributors in terms of marketing, promotions and channel development activities?

DT: Digital marketing is the most essential and popular activity nowadays. AirLive invests in developing digital materials that channel partners can use in their shops or website or anywhere else they wish. The marketing materials include digital video, digital images and banners, point of presence stands or demo-booth design.

CE: How quickly is your business growing in the EMEA region? What market trends have you identified that are impacting AirLive’s business segment?

DT: We are looking for high growth in the EMEA region. International famous companies such as Amazon and Google, as well as Apple, are all promoting the smart home business and that will greatly help AirLive’s business growth.

CE: Is your company channel friendly? How would you describe your overall go-to-market approach in the EMEA market?

DT: AirLive is a friendly and trustworthy company. We are attending events such as DISTREE EMEA to approach the regional market. Digital marketing is one of the ways that AirLive and partners will work together in a mutually beneficial way.
