Chipolo confirmed for DISTREE EMEA 2019

Tracker brand Chipolo has confirmed its participation at DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2019, which takes place in Monaco from February 19th to 22nd.

DISTREE EMEA gives consumer tech, consumer electronics (CE) and IT brands a unique opportunity to hold pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with senior executives from top distributors, retailers and e-tailers from 50-plus countries in one place at one time. Chipolo will use this year’s event to accelerate its channel expansion and promote its new Chipolo DOT product.

Martin Blazinšek, chief sales officer at Chipolo, said: “We would like to meet in person with the main players in consumer electronics. We would like to meet distributors and retailers [at DISTREE EMEA], who would be able to sell our products. We are especially focusing on the new product Chipolo DOT, which we would like to have on the shelves in the fourth quarter of 2019.”

Chipolo uses multiple routes-to-market including retail, online and gift channels. The currently has a strong presence in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine, Japan and the US.

“We would like to get stronger on other markets but are still open for new opportunities on the markets we are currently strong in,” added Blazinšek. “Our biggest success story was a direct partnership with Swedish retail chain Clas Ohlson. We also had good sales of our Chipolo Classic fruit edition last year.”

For 2019, Chipolo is keen to expand its channel reach in Germany, UK, Spain, Nigeria and African countries with better GDP. At a global level, Chipolo is also interested in further developing its business in the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan and Australia.

“We offer good margins and MDF and also work with partners on POS displays, digital marketing materials, videos and design support,” said Blazinšek. “We’ve been in the business since 2013 and our sales are growing every year since then.”

“Our strategy is first to try to go direct working with retailers. This is how we can maintain higher margins for both sides. If this is not possible we work with distributors and are giving exclusivity on the list of accounts they list to us. We are not willing to give exclusivity for the whole market, only by accounts or channels,” he explained.
