Iberia-based distributor Atlantis Internacional has confirmed its participation at DISTREE EMEA 2019, which takes place in Monaco from February 19th to 22nd. DISTREE EMEA is a premium hosted buyer event, which gives consumer tech, consumer electronics (CE) and IT brands a unique opportunity to hold pre-scheduled meetings with senior executives from top channel partners from 50-plus countries. Atlantis distributes its products across 25 markets in Europe and North Africa, with Spain and Portugal as its main markets.

Nico Broder, CEO at Atlantis Internacional, said: “Atlantis Internacional SL is based in Barcelona, Spain. Our current portfolio includes the following product categories: smartphone accessories; educational robotics; wearables; IoT products; action camera accessories, plus other CE products and accessories.”

Atlantis offers extensive retail distribution through companies such as MediaMarkt, Worten and Leroy Merlin among others. The company also covers e-tail channels through websites such as Amazon and PC Componentes among others, and telecom channels through Telefonica-Movistar, Orange, Yoigo, The Phone House and others. In addition, Atlantis also offers brands in its portfolio access to other routes-to-market including airport retail, gift channels and promotion channels.

Broder added: “We have a team of 80 people, so we provide full service to our customers, which includes marketing and web services, in store service, logistics and deliveries.”

“We expect to reach agreements with top brands for our customers that fit in our portfolio [at DISTREE EMEA]. We are especially interested in robotics and IoT products at this moment. We are also looking always for innovative products in the smartphone accessories business,” he added.

“Market conditions in Spain and Portugal are difficult at this moment, where physical retailers are suffering from a lot of competition and market demand is slow. The requirements from retailers are very demanding in terms of sale or return and deposit conditions, high margins and premium services. Support from vendors can be limited,” Broder explained.

Atlantis plans to achieve growth by focusing on newer categories in its portfolio such as IoT products and robotics. The distributor has increased its market share in the Spanish market in the last 12 months and has successfully launched new brands in the educational robotics sector.

“Vendors have to start understanding the demands from the retailers and from the end users. Most of the vendors limit their activity to shipping the products and providing a marketing rebate. They must support the customers in their needs too and not leave all the responsibility to the distributors,” concluded Broder.
