Tenda targets Ireland

by Stuart Wilson, Thursday 5 July 2018

Dublin-based EurAsia, a product sourcing and procurement specialist, has partnered with Tenda to launch the Nova MW3 Mesh Wi-Fi system in Ireland. Jason Zhao, general manager of Tenda UK & Republic of Ireland, said: “The Nova MW3 brings smart WiFi technology to every home user and modern smart home.”

“Building on the Mesh WiFi technology the MW3 can handle simultaneous connections from multiple devices and even works with Alexa allowing you to control compatible devices. With Nova MW3, we’re demonstrating that the era of powerlines and extenders is over, as Mesh WiFi is now available at better value with a better experience,” Zhao added.

Increasing numbers of connected devices can cause connection drop offs, slow performance and dead spots. Most homes suffer from these common WiFi problems as our lives get smarter. Key benefits of the mesh technology provide optimisation of home networks, eliminate connection frustration, extend the reach in homes with fast, efficient and reliable WiFi coverage. With the Nova MW3 in place, householders will be enabled to make the most of their smart home.

Tenda believe that all the benefits of whole-home WiFi coverage only be delivered by a state-of-the-art Mesh system, but users are currently stuck in the paradigm of daisy-chained powerlines and range extenders for the mass market. A good analogy is to imagine the average home before central heating when each room had its own individual fireplace that had to be maintained and managed. With central heating and controllable radiators in each room, the whole-home becomes usable.

Kalam Meah, sales director UK & Ireland at Tenda, said: “We believe that this analogy holds true for WiFi and that when true-mesh (the 802.11s standard), fully controllable from a cloud-based app, becomes available to a greater segment of the market, the old technology of powerlines and extenders will be seen for what they are. We at Tenda have made the breakthrough in price and technology to facilitate that movement with our Nova MW3, a truly disruptive product.”

The Nova MW3 is part of a planned range of products at different technology-levels and price-points that will address all segments of the market for whole-home WiFi coverage. With this range of products Tenda will be positioned to take the technology, price and thought leadership in this category. The MW3 is a first step in the democratisation of the category, enabling a wider group of consumers to take part in the coming smart home revolution.

Pat Kenny, commercial director at EurAsia, said: “Tenda has already shaken the market with the introduction of their Nova MW6, which is between €30 to €40 lower than its nearest rivals…We’ve selected two launch partners for Ireland and the MW3 has been available since Monday 25th June."
