Distributor Exertis has announced an exclusive agreement to distribute the IMO brand of Android smartphones and feature phones from Verve Connect. The IMO range consists of a series of value smart and feature phones across 2, 3 and 4G. The agreement forms part of Exertis’ attempt to target the growing market for mobile phones that cost less than £100 (US$143).

Rik Hubbard, Exertis mobile commercial and services director, said: “IMO provide a smartphone at a very smart price without compromising on quality or functionality. We are delighted to be able to bring their range to a broader reach of retail customers and accelerate their presence in the growing sub £100 (US$143) smartphone market.”

“IMO products are well suited to most large retail customers, the MNOs and MVNOs. For consumers, they offer a full smartphone experience, appealing to a younger, cash-conscious demographic that still desire great design and performance,” Hubbard added.

Exertis will initially range the IMO Q2 smartphones and the IMO Dash feature phone. Further product announcements are expected over the next few months to grow the portfolio.

Nigel Whitehead, head of sales and propositions at Verve Connect, said: “IMO has become one of the UK’s fastest growing mobile brands during 2017, and our products can now be bought in over 30% of UK mobile retail stores.”

“We have ambitious plans for strong growth in 2018, and are confident Exertis is ideally positioned in the distribution space to help us meet and exceed our goals. They will play a key role, particularly in the retail, MVNO and B2B sectors. Their strong relationships will enable us to increase our depth of customers and bring exciting new opportunities to our business,” he added.
