CONTEXT to reveal VR research findings at DISTREE APAC

by Stuart Wilson, Monday 30 October 2017

Following on from its successful 2016 VR Research, CONTEXT is pleased to announce that Howard Davies, CEO, will be presenting this year’s results for the first time at DISTREE APAC in Singapore during a keynote address on 9th November. CONTEXT’s 2017 VR Research consumer survey adds data for China and Russia for the first time to complement existing coverage of the UK, France, Germany and Italy.

A total of 30 questions designed in partnership with AMD, Exertis, UKIE, Reading University and KWP seek insight of consumers’ awareness and attitudes to VR, including a variety of factors affecting purchasing decisions, VR in the workplace and for the first time, interest in location-based VR attractions.

VR has come a long way in the short time since the modern wave of consumer headsets launched in early 2016. While early adopters took to the new technology with great enthusiasm, some were left disappointed at a perceived lack of content. Many mainstream consumers also remained unconvinced leading to a slower initial uptake than many analysts predicted, according to CONTEXT.

CONTEXT claims that most commentators agree that it is a question of when, not if, VR goes mainstream. With a plethora of new headsets entering the market under the Windows Mixed Reality brand, the situation is now changing as the VR landscape today matures into a very different competitive environment compared to this time last year. For those committed to VR, it is now more important than ever to ensure that product decisions are informed by unbiased, accurate and reliable data.

CONTEXT’s 2017 VR services will include multiple levels of deep data analysis to show year on year trends, geographic variance and correlation with multiple consumer profiling metrics.

Channel APAC is an official Media Partner for regional technology and consumer electronics retail channel event DISTREE APAC taking place November 8-10th in Singapore. Vendors, distributors and retailers requiring more information about DISTREE APAC 2017 should contact quoting code DAP17.
