DISTREE APAC 2017 confirmed for November 8-10 in Singapore

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 21 April 2017

The fifth annual DISTREE Asia-Pacific (APAC) will take place at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore on 8th to 10th November 2017. The regional channel event gives consumer technology vendors and brand owners the opportunity to hold pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with APAC’s leading distributors, plus senior executives from some of the region’s top retailers and e-tailers.

Christophe Painvin, Event Director for DISTREE APAC, said: “Based on feedback from exhibitors, we’re extending the geographic remit of DISTREE APAC to bring together the region’s top consumer tech distributors from across South East Asia, SAARC, North Asia and Oceania in one place at one time. This will provide the most cost-effective channel platform for brands looking to manage, build or launch distribution channels within the APAC region.”

More distributors

With an increased focus on distribution this year, more than 150 executives representing more than 130 distributors are set to attend DISTREE APAC 2017. In addition, VIP retail and e-tail executives from across the region are invited, providing an extra value-add for exhibitors, creating more business opportunities for all attendees.

“Identifying the right distributors is the key to channel success on many APAC markets, “ explained Painvin. “In many countries where independent retailers remain a primary consumer channel, the distributor – and their channel customer base - has a vital role to play in determining a brand’s in-country success.”

The delegate base at this year’s DISTREE APAC will include distributors and retailers from India, giving exhibitors access to partners capable of opening up significant consumer channels, in one of the region’s fastest growing and most dynamic markets.

Indian channels

“We’re excited to bring top Indian distributors and retailers to DISTREE APAC,” added Painvin. “DISTREE APAC provides the most efficient platform for building channel sales across the region. This event gives exhibitors access to top executives from all the major markets. The ability to pre-schedule one-on-one meetings ensures that exhibitors and channel partners maximise their business benefits from attending.”

DISTREE APAC will invite delegates from the following markets in South East Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. SAARC countries of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will also form part of the delegate base. Oceania-based channel partners from Australia and New Zealand will also receive invites, as will distributors and key retailers from Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and China in North-Asia.

GfK & IE Singapore

DISTREE APAC also features an extensive conference programme and awards, giving delegates access to the latest market data and insight on business trends shaping the consumer tech channel. GfK and IE Singapore are both official Event Partners for DISTREE APAC 2017.

As an official 2017 Event Partner, GfK will deliver a keynote address and a series of workshop sessions during the event. International Enterprise (IE) Singapore is the government agency promoting international trade and partnering Singapore companies in going global. Its vision is a thriving business hub in Singapore with globally competitive companies and leading international traders.

Painvin commented: “We are delighted that IE Singapore continues to support DISTREE APAC as an Event Partner for 2017. Singapore is an important regional business hub and also home to many brands looking to grow their business internationally. We look forward to helping these brands as they look to open up additional routes-to-market across the region.”

APAC growth potential

“With over 4.5 billion people in APAC, representing nearly 60% of the world’s population, the region represents a huge opportunity for consumer tech brands,” continued Painvin. “Using our regional channel knowledge built up during the last five years, we will provide the most efficient platform for brands to increase their APAC sales and open up new routes-to-market.”

Exhibitors at DISTREE APAC 2017 will represent the entire consumer tech product landscape, including high-growth product categories such as mobile devices, mobile accessories, smart home solutions, wearables and gaming products. For more details on participating at DISTREE APAC 2017, please visit
