Ambi Climate to recruit distributors at DISTREE EMEA

by Stuart Wilson, Monday 6 February 2017

Regional channel event DISTREE EMEA is the perfect stage for technology brands looking to scale up their market reach and appoint distributors. Ambi Climate, which offers a smart add-on device for air conditioners, will participate at this month’s DISTREE EMEA in Monaco. Julian Lee, founder at Ambi Climate, said: “Being a completely new brand and just starting to build our distribution network, our main goal is to get in touch with major distributors from the EMEA region. The one-on-one meetings will allow us to present the product features to key decision makers and discuss the introduction of our product in the different markets.”

With hundreds of senior executives from distributors confirmed to attend DISTREE EMEA, the event is a powerful business development platform for companies looking to launch, build or manage their routes-to-market across the region. The sophisticated one-on-one meeting planner allows exhibitors to research distributors in advance and pre-schedule meetings with channel partners most suited to their business needs – either by geography, product focus or channel customer base.

Ambi Climate should be popular with distributors at the event. The company exceeded its crowdfunding target by 450% in 2014, showing its potential and the potential for huge consumer interest in the product.

Lee added: “Whether it’s turning on your AC before you get home, or setting rules and timers for when you’re out of the house, Ambi Climate smart-enables your AC to give you seamless control. Teach Ambi Climate how warm or cool you feel, and let our AI-driven algorithms adjust your AC for tailored comfort with energy savings. Perfect for the eco-conscious, pet owners and parents alike. To provide a maximum of compatibility with other IoT solutions, Ambi Climate also integrates with IFTTT and has an open API.”

Ambi Climate has already started building its channels in South East Asia, launching in its home market of Hong Kong and appointing local partners in Malaysia and Thailand. The company is now identifying the markets in EMEA that offer the most potential for its products.

“As our product targets AC and heat pump users, we see the greatest market potential in the Middle Eastern countries as well as in Southern Europe. The climate in these regions demands for AC usage at least several months of the year, and the populations in these markets are very responsive to the latest IoT, smart home and home automation trends. Furthermore, heat pumps are also widely used in Northern and Eastern Europe for heating in the winter, so we believe that there is significant potential for Ambi Climate in the region,” Lee explained.

Finding high quality distributors and forming strong relationships with them forms the essence of Ambi Climate’s channel plans.

“Our strategy is to work with exclusive distributors in our key markets, which hold a fitting brand portfolio accompanied with branding and marketing experience,” explained Lee. “As building our brand is very important to us, we aim to form long-lasting relationships with strong partners in the different countries. Our margin structure is based on the individual market requirements, following an international MSRP guideline.”

“We are open to support distributors in their marketing, promotion and development activities. Their action plan forms part of our distribution contract. Apart from marketing funding, we offer all kinds of content-related support - PR, social media, branding, training - as well as best practice case studies based on our most recent experiences, to make sure that their national launch becomes a success,” he added.

“We aim to enter the EMEA region progressively throughout 2017, based on the suitable distributors we encounter and the ideal launch timing of the respective markets - based on seasonality and launch windows. Our goal is to have established nation-wide distribution in six or seven key markets in EMEA in 2017 - but the more the better,” Lee concluded.

Distributors confirmed to attend DISTREE EMEA can pre-schedule one-on-one meetings with the Ambi Climate team at this year’s event.
