Hotsplots names Micke as international sales head

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 8 January 2016

Berlin-based wireless hotspots provider Hotsplots has named Karsten Micke as its new head of international sales. Hotsplots believes that Micke’s previous experience as key account and sales manager will be instrumental in driving the continued development of international business and new partnerships for the company.

Since joining the company in 2013, Micke has made a significant contributions to establish the Hotsplots brand within the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).

The company now wants to expand geographically and build pan-European business partnerships.

Dr. Ulrich Meier, joint managing director at Hotsplots, said: “During the past years, Hotsplots has gone from strength to strength. And we are determined to ensure that this rapid growth continues in the future – above all through developing further European markets. We are certain that together with Karsten Micke, we will reach this goal.”

Micke stated: “The further expansion of our business areas into international markets is an explicit aim of hotsplots. Innovative and creative distribution channels as well as new collaborations will help us achieve our company’s ambitious goals. I am proud to have been entrusted with this responsible task and am looking forward to the challenge.”

Hotsplots was founded by Dr. Ulrich Meier and Dr. Jörg Ontrup in Berlin in 2004. Thanks to its innovative system for security and access control, the company has grown into one of the largest providers in Germany with nearly 10,000 WLAN hotspots. The continuous development of the Linux-based system focuses on customer demands as well as the highest level of security.

Hotsplots can be found in an ever-growing number of hotels, cafés, hospitals, youth hostels, libraries, student hostels, pedestrian areas, busses and trains as well as camping sites. Furthermore, together with more than 300 regional installation partners, the WLAN specialist also equips events – both large and small – such as the Berlin International Film Festival or the Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding, with its mobile internet solutions.
