PSafe raises funds for international expansion

by Stuart Wilson, Thursday 16 July 2015

Brazil-based antivirus solution vendor PSafe has raised US$30m to fund its planned international expansion across Latin America. Established in 2010, PSafe is focused on providing antivirus solutions for Android smartphones and devices.

The US$30m fundraising was led by existing investors Qihoo 360, Pinnacle and Redpoint eVentures Brazil.

PSafe claims that 52% of all Android smartphones in Brazil are now using its antivirus solution. Having made its mark in Brazil – Latin America’s largest marker for Android – PSafe now plans to try and achieve similar success in Mexico, the region’s second largest Android market.

The PSafe application is free to download on Google Play and the company’s revenues come from pushing targeted application and game recommendations to users.

Psafe is the fifth most popular application on Google Play in Brazil. PSafe’s CEO is Marco de Mello.
