INTERVIEW: Ricardo Radomysler, Allied

by Stuart Wilson, Monday 20 October 2014

Latin America’s leading technology distributors are attending this week’s DISTREE Brazil & Latin America in Salvador, Brazil. Channel LatAm caught up with Ricardo Radomysler, CEO at Brazilian distribution powerhouse Allied, to find out more about the company’s participation objectives for this week’s three-day regional channel event.

Channel LatAm (CL): What do you want to achieve at DISTREE Brazil & Latam 2014? What are your key goals for the event?

Ricardo Radomysler (RR): We want to achieve two main goals at the event. First is to present ourselves to the distinguished group of retailers that will be attending DISTREE Brazil & Latin America. Despite having long-term relationships with some of the attendees, there are certainly other groups which we can start to serve and this is a unique opportunity to present our capabilities as a means to establishing new partnerships.

In addition to that, we would like to understand the dynamics of other Latin American countries better and assess whether there are opportunities for international expansion in the coming years.

CL: What products and solutions will you be showcasing at DISTREE Brazil & Latin America 2014? What do you want retailers to know about your portfolio?

RR: Allied operates as a distributor and will be showcasing a sample of its portfolio, which comprises products from the main globally-renowned manufacturers, covering the following segments: mobile phones, tablets, notebooks, ultrabooks, cameras and our latest development area - the games and consoles business.

We want manufacturers and retailers to rely on our quality services and choose us as their technology partner. Doing business with Allied means having a broad and selected portfolio of products backed by an agile and reliable operating structure. We are business-oriented and have built a solid reputation in Brazil on this basis.

CL: Describe how your channel business has developed in the past 12 months? What trends have you seen and what have been the highlights for your business?

RR: The bulk of our business is associated with mobile devices, and, specifically, mobile phones and tablets. Brazil has been experiencing a continuous shift of handset sales through non-carrier channels. On top of that, the internal demand for electronic products has been increasing year after year. This means that - despite the growing uncertainty associated with Brazil’s macroeconomic issues - we are quite optimistic about the prospects and the opportunities ahead of us.

Allied has been well positioned to benefit from these two market drivers. Consequently, the company has presented strong and outstanding results for the past three years and figures among the key players of the Brazil´s technology industry.

CL: Which geographic areas represent the greatest opportunity for growth for Allied?

RR: We have been doing business entirely in the Brazilian territory so far. Perhaps the time to assess different markets in Latin America has now come and we will certainly take this opportunity to get to know channel partners who do business in other countries. That is one of our main goals at DISTREE Brazil & Latin America.

CL: Do you have a structured channel programme? Do you offer a strong margin proposition to your partners?

RR: What we offer to our clients is not only margin but a complete package of services covering on-time delivery, overcoming Brazil´s challenging infrastructure. We offer a broad product portfolio, supported by an experienced commercial salesforce and a conservative approach towards fiscal rules, which in Brazil is always a big concern for everyone. We want people to understand the advantageous set of value-added services Allied offers and choose us as their technology partner.
