Rocom picks up UK Ericsson deal

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 2 May 2008

Distribution outfit Rocom, part of the AT Communications (ATC) Group, has secured a deal with Ericsson to act as UK master distributor for the vendor’s voice, data and mobility applications for small, medium and large enterprises. ATC reckons that the deal will deliver several million pounds of additional sales for the group with ATC’s Servassure division providing ongoing maintenance on the Ericsson kit sold.

ATC claims that the deal effectively positions Rocom as the UK’s only trade distributor of Ericsson’s enterprise portfolio. Under the terms of this contract, Rocom will supply and support a suite of Ericsson products including the MD110, Enterprise Mobility Gateway, Enterprise Media Server, MX-ONE and Business Phone.

Alex Tupman, CEO at ATC, said: “Our Rocom team is doing a fantastic job at securing major new contracts with international manufacturers such as Ericsson and Avaya. This success has been driven by our refocused sales strategy in tandem with infrastructure investment, which has enabled the Group to scale up and secure larger business wins.”

“In addition, these major contract wins are a clear sign that leading system manufacturers increasingly want our total distribution capability, which in turn will generate significant future business prospects. I expect this trend to continue and look forward to reporting further progress in due course,” he added.

Ericsson has a global installed base totaling approximately 37 million extensions and is one of the primary system brands within the UK’s large enterprise and public sector space.

The Ericsson deal follows on from Rocom’s recent UK distribution contract win with Avaya, a global provider of IP telephony, which it is claimed will deliver US$14m of sales to the ATC Group over the next two years. Servassure is also providing all ongoing maintenance for this contract.

ATC Group consists of several divisions that operate independently but share resources at a divisional level to ensure there is no duplication of effort. ATC Group includes systems integration arm ATC Solutions, third party service provider Servassure and distribution outfit Rocom. ATC’s Rocom division recently won a two-year UK contract to supply communications kit to online retailer Amazon.
