Ingram Micro grabs VMware Nordic rights

by Stuart Wilson, Thursday 17 April 2008

Distribution behemoth Ingram Micro has signed a distribution deal with VMware for the Nordic region. Ingram will offer the full breadth of VMware’s virtualisation solutions to its IT reseller base in the region. The deal builds on Ingram Micro’s existing distribution agreements with VMware covering Germany, North America and Australia.

“We are pleased to add VMware’s full range of virtualisation solutions from the desktop to the datacentre to our value add portfolio. By working with VMware, Ingram Micro makes virtualisation accessible to customers of all sizes in the Nordics,” said Magnus Högvall, managing director at Ingram Micro Nordic region.

“Through this agreement, Ingram Micro’s resellers will be able to offer their customers virtualisation solutions that can contribute to reduced operating costs, improved security, assured business continuity and reduced carbon emissions,” he added.

Ingram Micro reckons that its latest deal with VMware will allow its reseller base in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway to take advantage of the growth opportunities for virtualisation solutions from the desktop to the datacentre. Virtualisation is a hot topic in the IT market, offering customers a way to reduce capital and operating expenses, ensure business continuity, strengthen security and display their green credentials.

“At VMware we recognise the value of channel relationships and the ability to proliferate virtualisation through close collaboration with the right distribution partners,” said Lewis Gee, VP Northern Europe at VMware.

“Our customers value VMware virtualisation solutions for their superior functionality, unsurpassed reliability, and enormous cost-saving benefits. Ingram Micro’s distribution in the Nordics, as elsewhere, brings these benefits to a much wider range of customers, especially to the extensive SMB reseller base Ingram commands in this region,” continued Gee.
