Bell Micro bags Big Blue VAD award

Bell Micro has picked up the inaugural IBM VAD software award for ‘2007 Top Performing Value Add Distributor IBM Software’. Presented at an OEM distributor workshop, the award represents revenue and achievement throughout 2007, recognising Bell Micro’s investment as a VAD in the OEM channel.

Bell Micro’s strategy has been to demonstrate to independent software vendors (ISVs) how they can convert innovative technical offerings into compelling business solutions. Throughout 2007, Bell Micro dedicated itself to helping ISVs develop their business with Maximation – a programme that assists and supports ISVs in using IBM technologies.

By developing applications driven by IBM’s Informix portfolio of database technologies, ISVs are offered increased value and functionality - with much lower hardware requirements. Moving to a less hardware-intensive platform is a major factor in the cost-effectiveness of any solution, helping customers to accelerate their return on investment by reducing operational overheads in the face of the rising cost of data centre floor space, electricity and air-conditioning.

“Bell Micro has been awarded as our best OEM Distributor in North East Europe for 2007,” said Aurore Achour, VAD sales manager, IBM software group North East Europe. “The company, whose core offering is Informix OEM, has managed to grow both new business and maintenance OEM revenue in 2007, leading sales for North East Europe.”

“More importantly, Bell Micro has demonstrated great value with a high number of technical certifications and skills, plus 24x7 support for both end-users and ISVs. Not only have they highly performed in OEM sales but they have also more than demonstrated their skills as value added OEM distributor,” Achour added.

Bell Micro has expertise across the entire IBM hardware and software portfolio, with a particular focus on IBM’s information management software.
