Opennet strengthens Saudi team

by Stuart Wilson, Thursday 13 March 2008

Red Hat Linux distributor Opennet has strengthened its team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the appointment of Hani Mohammed Amin Hijazi as territory manager. Hijazi’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Opennet as the company looks to expand its operations within the Kingdom.

Hijazi’s key responsibilities will include enhancing the existing channel to market within Saudi Arabia and expanding the presence of Red Hat solutions within the market. Opennet Middle East and Africa is the master distributor and certified training centre of Red Hat Linux products for the GCC, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.

“We are pleased to welcome Hani on board. He has considerable experience in the Kingdom and especially in Riyadh,” said David Allinson, general manager at Opennet Middle East and Africa. “This is the first step of our expansion plans in KSA. We have been doing business in the Kingdom from our base in Jeddah but believe that our operations will be more effective from Riyadh.”

Hijazi brings over eight years’ experience of the Saudi market to his new position, including stints at some of the country’s leading IT companies including Jeraisy, MDS, Mindware, Microsoft and NATCOM.

According to Opennet, Hijazi has a proven track record of successfully establishing and expanding the channel network and business for each of these companies, with considerable success during his tenure as Citrix Business Development Manager at Mindware.
