Krusell appoints Alström as Nordics manager

Nuvias adds pan-European rights for FireEye

Nuvias, the fast-growing VAD, has signed a pan-European distribution agreement with FireEye, the intelligence-led security company. Nuvias will aim to play a key role in driving further adoption of the FireEye product portfolio. The agreement is initially focused on markets in the UK and Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and the Netherlands. It will eventually cover the whole of Europe. FireEye is a major addition to the growing Nuvias security practice. Read full story

New EMEA HQ for VAD Nuvias

Nuvias, the fast-growing EMEA VAD, has opened a new 13,500 square foot EMEA headquarters in Surrey, UK. The move is the latest step in the rapid growth of the company, following its foundation in 2015. Paul Eccleston, CEO at Nuvias, commented: “The new EMEA headquarters in Woking is part of our ongoing plans for growth and increased EMEA reach. It will be a focal point for EMEA-wide activities and a centre for training and development, as well as a location for hosting strategic meetings with our customers and vendor partners. Hume to become CEO at Tech Data

Distribution giant Tech Data has announced that Rich Hume, executive VP and COO will become CEO effective June 6, 2018 and has been nominated to join the company’s board of directors. Hume will succeed Bob Dutkowsky, who will transition to the role of executive chairman of the board. Hume joined Tech Data in 2016 as executive VP and COO. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in the creation of the company’s long-term strategy. Read full story

MyKronoz crowdfunds US$8m for ZeTime in less than a year

Innovative smartwatch brand MyKronoz has announced record-breaking crowdfunding results for ZeTime, its hybrid smartwatch. After a 35-day Kickstarter campaign launched in March 2017, ZeTime has since pursued its crowdfunding journey on a variety of international and local platforms including Indiegogo, Makuaké in Japan, Zec Zec in Taïwan, Wadiz in Korea and on the leading chinese e-commerce website JD.com. MyKronoz has now confirmed that it raised more than US$8m in less than a year. Read full story

Middle East tech retail channel feels VAT impact

The Middle East consumer tech retail channel has experienced a rollercoaster during the last few months, mainly due to the introduction of 5% VAT in the UAE and Saudi Arabia on the 1st January 2018. Sales in December 2017 were buoyant with many consumers choosing to purchase big-ticket items prior to the implementation. This sales boom then gave way to a sharp sales drop-off in January 2018, according to market reports and analyst insights. Read full story

Avaya appoints Jones to UK role

Avaya has appointed Mark Jones as regional sales lead for Avaya UK South, where he will work closely with customers and partners to drive adoption of Avaya’s innovative communications and collaboration solutions. Jones first joined Avaya in 2011 and held senior roles within the channel and the commercial enterprise high-touch teams where he led direct sales relationships for enterprise clients, before leaving for Mitel. AB Group sales climb in fourth quarter of 2017

Central & Eastern Europe distribution giant AB Group saw sales climb 8.5% year-on-year for the quarter ending December 31st, 2017 to hit US$813m. During the traditionally busy fourth quarter AB Group benefitted from the increased business efficiency of its new modern automated distribution centre in Manic, Poland. AB has experienced dynamic growth in cloud, gaming, digital signage and its value-added distribution (VAD) business. Read full story
