Lalani launches E-tech City retail venture
Indian channel player Lalani Group has outlined its ambitions in the country’s fast-growing retail market for IT, mobile and office products. Lalani Group plans to develop a chain of large format stores under the E-tech City brand. The company has opened its first 13,000 square foot E-tech City store in Kolkata and plans to have 25 stores across India by 2015.

Reliance Digital breaks 100-store barrier
Indian IT and consumer electronics retailer Reliance Digital has broken through the 100-store barrier as its rapid expansion continues. Reliance Digital, part of the Reliance Retail group, stocks 150 international and national brands and offers consumers more than 4,000 separate products. Reliance Digital aims to help customers throughout a product’s lifecycle offering and advice and post-sales support service under the ResQ brand.

New Lenovo roles for Ebel and Lee
Hardware giant Lenovo’s Middle East and Africa (MEA) operation is now headed up by Oliver Ebel, who took on the role at the beginning of October, replacing former regional boss Jack Lee. Ebel is now executive director and general manager for MEA having previously served as regional boss for Eastern Europe and Turkey. Lee is relocating to Hong Kong where he will serve as corporate VP and manager of Lenovo Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.

Ingram Micro completes Brightpoint deal
Global distribution giant Ingram Micro has completed its US$650m acquisition of Brightpoint paying US$9 per share in cash for the mobility specialist. Ingram Micro claims that the deal creates a leading global provider of lifecycle services and solutions for the mobile industry. Ingram Micro also believes the deal will give it enhanced customer reach and deep relationships with key vendors, network operators and mobile virtual network operators in the rapidly growing mobile market.

Alain Monie has returned to global distribution giant Ingram Micro to become president and COO, a position he held from 2007 to 2010 after leading the company’s Asia-Pacific region. From November 1st, Monie will take responsibility for Ingram Micro’s operating units and will report into CEO Greg Spierkel.
