Haines takes on expanded role at Tripp Lite

IT infrastructure products vendor Tripp Lite has announced the appointment of Darwin Haines as its new senior VP of international business. Haines joined Tripp Lite in 2008 as VP of international business development. After successfully establishing the brand in the Russia & CIS market, he was promoted to VP of sales for EMEA and Asia. After success in these regions, he will now take on management responsibility of all Tripp Lite’s international sales territories, which also include Mexico, Latin America and Canada. Huntkey signs Savera in India

China-based Huntkey’s global channel development has continued with the appointment of Savera Marketing Agency as a national distributor in India. Yankon and Kii team up for smart lighting

Internet of Things (IoT) cloud platform provider Kii has teamed up with Yankon Lighting, an LED manufacturer, to launch next-generation IoT smart lighting solutions for homes and offices. The smart lighting products, which can be accessed through a smartphone, have adopted a system-on-a-chip solution provided by MediaTek. The new products will target consumer demand for a lower cost, comfortable, convenient, energy-efficient lighting system. Read full story

Dick Smith to roll out ConnectedHome section in 100 stores

Retailer Dick Smith has set its sights on grabbing some consumer product sales related to smart homes and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. During the next five months, Dick Smith will install a ConnectedHome section into 100 stores – 15 in New Zealand and 85 in Australia. The sections will stock small appliances with smart functionality. Dick Smith wants to grab 10% of the small appliance market in the region, which is estimated to be worth AUD1.7 billion (US$1.26 billion) per annum. Read full story

Huntkey ties up with Costco in Australia

China-based Huntkey has boosted its retail channel reach in Australia, announcing an agreement with Costco Warehouse. The deal will see Costco Warehouse stock Huntkey’s SAC804 power strip in its stores. Costco is one of the largest warehouse retailers in Australia with a reputation for carrying quality national and regional brands at prices consistently below traditional wholesale or retail outlets. Croma integrates multichannel approach

Indian technology and consumer electronics retailer Croma has announced plans to integrate its multichannel sales model, combining its physical and online channels into a unified business platform. Croma had been operating its online business, www.cromaretail.com, as a separate business but will now fully integrate with its physical stores to allow new services for customers such as click and collect. Microsoft unveils Windows 10 launch plans

Vendor giant Microsoft will launch Windows 10 on July 29th with global fan celebrations, joint efforts with thousands of retailers, including all Microsoft store locations, plus a new global advertising campaign. In the Asia Pacific region retailers including Croma in India, plus Bic Camera, Yamada and Yodobashi in Japan, will all introduce programmes to help people easily upgrade. Read full story

Papp leaves Hungary for Microsoft APAC role

Vendor giant Microsoft has appointed István Papp as VP for sales, marketing and services in Asia Pacific (APAC). In his new role, Papp will lead regional business operations for Microsoft in APAC, which now spans over 13,500 employees and 100,000 Microsoft partners across 12 subsidiaries. Papp joins Microsoft APAC after four years as the general manager of Microsoft Hungary. Read full story
