Ingram Micro completes Brightpoint deal

Global distribution giant Ingram Micro has completed its US$650m acquisition of Brightpoint paying US$9 per share in cash for the mobility specialist. Ingram Micro claims that the deal creates a leading global provider of lifecycle services and solutions for the mobile industry. Ingram Micro also believes the deal will give it enhanced customer reach and deep relationships with key vendors, network operators and mobile virtual network operators in the rapidly growing mobile market. ‘LatAm Channel Academy: 2012 Awards’ – WINNERS

The ‘LatAm Channel Academy: 2012 Awards’ took place last week in Buenos Aires in conjunction with regional channel event DISTREE Latin America. The second annual awards for the region saw hundreds of top retailers and distributors vote live for their preferred vendor in eight product categories. Microsoft picked up two awards with Energy Sistem, HP, Kingston, Lenovo, Linksys and Sony winning one apiece. Read full story

Building channels in Argentina and Brazil

DISTREE Latin America 2012 today offered vendors a unique opportunity to get up to speed on channel dynamics in Argentina and Brazil. Chanel Academy workshop sessions offered delegates access to the latest market data and a deeper understanding of important issues such as local tax systems and import regulations. Microsoft outlines strategy to Latin American channel

Fabricia Degiovanni, consumer channel group lead at Microsoft Argentina and Uruguay, took to the stage at DISTREE Latin America today to discuss the vendor’s plans for the region. Retailers and distributors from across the region attended the session as Degiovanni covered Microsoft’s upcoming product launches and the opportunity for channel partners to tap into consumer demand in the region. “We are convinced we are starting a new era for Microsoft,” declared Degiovanni. Grupo Nucleo strikes Microsoft hardware deal

Argentinean distributor Grupo Nucleo has added Microsoft hardware to its product portfolio. Grupo Nucleo currently sells PCs and notebooks under the Eurocase brand and will complement this offering with a range of Microsoft hardware accessories including keyboards, mice and headsets. Grupo Nucleo will push Microsoft hardware to its customer base throughout Argentina. Read full story

Comex joins Abradisti

Brazilian distributor association Abradisti has added its 25th member with Sao Paulo-based Comex signing up. To join Abradisti companies must meet various evaluation criteria related to business processes and tax requirements. Comex has been operating for more than a decade and offers a wide portfolio including products from HP, Western Digital, Sandisk and Seagate among others. Read full story
