Linksys confirmed for DISTREE Africa 2015

Global networking brand Linksys has confirmed its participation at this month’s DISTREE Africa channel event. Linksys will use its presence at the event to make contact with channel partners across the region. Linksys, which recently became the first company to have sold 100 million routers since its launch, plans to maintain a leadership position by expanding its channel reach within Africa. Logicom eyes African channel expansion

French device brand Logicom plans to expand its presence in Africa and will use the upcoming DISTREE Africa 2015 channel event to meet potential partners from across the region. Rédha Abdessemed, EMEA sales manager at Logicom, said: “The key goal is to make Logicom known across the territory as an innovative French expert in smartphones, tablets and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Jumia doubles warehouse space in Ivory Coast

African e-tailer Jumia has doubled the size of its Ivory Coast warehouse as the company continues to grow rapidly. Jumia relocated its Treichville warehouse to a brand new 2,000 square metre facility in the industrial zone of Koumassi, a suburb of Abidjan. The new high-tech warehouse is twice the size of the previous facility. Read full story

VMK plans retail expansion

African device brand VMK recently opened a store in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. VMK plans to expand its store network to cover five countries in the region by the end of the year. The Abidjan outlet exclusively sells VMK products and marks the beginning of the Congolese company’s expansion beyond its borders. The Abidjan VMK store, which will employ around 10 people, is an addition to VMK’s existing store in Brazzaville, Congo. Read full story

Ingram Micro launches in Morocco

Distribution giant Ingram Micro has opened a new subsidiary in Casablanca, Morocco. The new office is the company’s first official presence in French speaking North Africa and will service one of the fastest growing IT markets in the region. Ingram Micro’s new operation will initially hold distribution rights for Microsoft, Oracle, Juniper Networks and NetApp. The distributor is in negotiations to add further brands to its North African portfolio. ZTE launches 4G devices in Ethiopia

Chinese telecoms brand ZTE has launched its 4G phones in Ethiopia, unveiling the products in Addis capital city Ababa. ZTE hopes that demand in Ethiopia will assist its continued expansion within the Africa market. ZTE has also signed world famous Ethiopian long-distance athlete Haile Gebresilassie as a brand ambassador for its products. Gebresilassie, 42, has won two Olympic gold medals and four World Championships. Read full story
