VIP picks up OCZ rights for MEA
Distributor VIP has picked up Middle East and Africa (MEA) rights for solid state drives (SSDs) and memory modules from NASDAQ-quoted OCZ Technology. VIP’s regional operation will aim to increase channel reach for the vendor’s products throughout the MEA region.

Open source solutions provider Red Hat has appointed George DeBono as general manager of its Middle East and Africa (MEA) operation. DeBono, who previously held a global operations role within Red Hat, will now lead the company’s business in the region. Prior to joining Red Hat, DeBono held management roles at Sun and CA.

Pickering leaves Cisco for Juniper gig
Juniper Networks has appointed Adrian Pickering as area VP for the Middle East and Africa. Pickering joins from Cisco where he was a senior director in the emerging markets East team. Based in Dubai, Pickering will be responsible for driving sales and operations across the Middle East and Africa region for both service provider and enterprise markets, reporting to Sean Dolan, senior VP EMEA.

New African hub for Brightpoint
Mobile distributor Brightpoint’s African subsidiary has completed its transition to a new operations hub in Johannesburg, South Africa. The 100,000 square foot facility in Rhodesfield will serve as Brightpoint Africa’s main distribution and supply chain solutions services centre for the African continent.

Flat screen monitor and TV vendor AOC has appointed Platinum Micro as a distributor for the South African market. The two companies hope that the agreement will enable AOC to increase its brand awareness in South Africa and drive increased sales through the channel.
