Tarsus Technologies has secured the distribution rights for Brocade switches and host bus adapters in South Africa. The team at Tarsus reckons that the deal widens its enterprise solutions focus. Tarsus will use its indirect experience of Brocade kit gleaned from working with other enterprise computing vendors in recent years. Brocade kit forms the basis of solutions from major vendors such as HP and IBM.

Microsoft signs Red Dot for Ethiopia
Microsoft has made some changes to its East African distribution line-up, adding Red Dot Distribution in Ethiopia, according to local press reports. Red Dot, which is headquartered in Tanzania, already distributes Microsoft products in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Djibouti and Tanzania. Red Dot replaces Alta Computers as a Microsoft distributor in Ethiopia.

Metra’s BEI bags Intel assembly deal in Egypt
Components behemoth Intel has struck a motherboard assembly deal with Boraq for Electronics and Industries (BEI) – a member of the Metra Computer Group. Under the terms of the deal, BEI will assemble Intel motherboards in Egypt for shipment across Africa. The agreement was formally signed between Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Authority (ITIDA), BEI and Intel.
