Belkin buoyed by first half growth

Peripherals and accessories vendor Belkin is growing its Middle East and Africa (MEA) sales at a dramatic pace. Belkin, which offers a massive portfolio of 3,500 products, recorded MEA sales in the first half of fiscal year 2009 more than double the revenues achieved during the whole of fiscal year 2008. Belkin reckons it can continue its strong sales growth and will attend Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) in May 2009 to further strengthen its relationships with the region’s top retailers. Belkin boosts MEA channel team

Networking and peripherals vendor Belkin has boosted its Middle East and Africa channel team, recruiting Youssef El-Arif as national account manager for the region. The appointment, which forms part of Belkin’s regional expansion plans, will see El-Arif assume responsibility for managing partner relations with retailers and distributors. Read full story

Printacom targets African growth with Oki

Printacom plans to capitalise on its recent appointment as sub-Saharan distributor for Oki by driving business expansion in new territories for the printing solutions vendor. Printacom reckons that it is operating in a relatively uncharted and opportunity-filled region and will embark on a channel expansion and growth strategy to cover the entire sub-Saharan market in Africa. Rectron reports sales dip

South African distributor Rectron’s sales for the second half of 2008 dipped 1% year-on-year to US$56.6m. Despite the slight fall in turnover, Rectron – one of South Africa’s leading ICT and consumer electronics (CE) distributors – managed to boost gross profit and pre-tax profits. Read full story

Samsung appoints XON to VAR role

South African reseller XON has struck a deal with hardware giant Samsung. Under the terms of the deal XON becomes the first Samsung VAR in South Africa appointed to push the vendor’s monitors, printers, notebooks and peripherals into the corporate and government markets. Bytes boosts Xerox channel in Zimbabwe

Bytes Document Solution – the exclusive Xerox distributor across 24 African countries – has struck an agreement to push products through Document Support Centre (DSC) in Zimbabwe. The deal will see DSC operate as an exclusive sub-distributor of Xerox products. DSC has recruited technical and sales staff from Harare, all of whom have received certified training from the Xerox training centre in Johannesburg. Read full story

McAfee adds Computerlinks as MEA VAD

Security software vendor McAfee has appointed Computerlinks as a VAD partner for the Middle East and Africa region. Under the terms of the agreement, Computerlinks will work with a comprehensive range of McAfee solutions, primarily in the areas of data protection and risk and compliance, and will also deliver training, support and professional services to McAfee resellers across the Middle East.
