Asbis back on track in fourth quarter 2009
Emerging markets distribution powerhouse Asbis reckons that its strong sales for the fourth quarter of 2009 indicate that an EMEA market recovery is already underway. Fourth quarter sales were up 12.8% year-on-year to US$409.7m. After-tax profits came in at US$2.41m compared to a loss of US$6.4m a year earlier. Asbis’ top brass are upbeat on the 2010 outlook, predicting growth in terms of both sales and profitability.

Avaya prepares for emerging markets channel event
Avaya will hold its emerging markets channel partner conference in Dubai on February 2nd and 3rd 2010. The event will bring together more than 300 channel partners. Having successfully completed its acquisition of Nortel’s enterprise solutions business, Avaya will also invite Nortel’s partners to the channel event.

The EMEA Channel Academy (ECA) has announced the distributors nominated for awards in 2010. Hundreds of senior vendor executives from across EMEA have provided details of their preferred distributors by region. The top five distributors in each distributor award category will now go forwards to face a live electronic vote at the ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2010 Awards’ Gala Dinner, which takes place in Monaco on February 10th in conjunction with DISTREE XXL.

IT services outfit Netsline – a company specialising in open source solutions – has picked up the advanced business partner status and will now look to promote its solutions even further across French-speaking North Africa.

Juniper confirms Redington deal
Juniper Networks has confirmed the appointment of Redington Gulf as a Middle East VAD partner. Under the terms of the deal, Redington will distribute Juniper’s entire portfolio of networking and security products across the region. The distribution deal will also cover most of Africa.
