Ingram Micro launches cybersecurity unit in META

Ingram Micro, one of the largest technology distributors in the META (Middle East, Turkey and Africa) region, today announced the appointment of Marc Kassis as cybersecurity director. Kassis is the former CEO Middle East of Atos, one of the largest European services providers. With this appointment Ingram Micro has launched its cybersecurity business practice in META region which now consists of more than 40 highly qualified professionals in the cybersecurity field. Axilspot enters MEA market

Axilspot, a global vendor in enterprise wireless networking, has announced the launch of its operations in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. As part of its regional expansion plans, the company will appoint distributors and strengthen its channel network by recruiting partners across the region. Fossil VP claims style will drive Middle East wearables growth

Preston Moxcey, VP at accessories manufacturer Fossil Group and GM of wearables brand Misfit, reckons that style will be the driving factor behind the growth of wearables in the Middle East market. Wearable devices may not have exploded onto the scene in the Middle East as projected by some industry quarters but, with time, they have wiggled their way into consumers’ lives. Fitness trackers and activity monitors, for example, are a common sight on wrists, and sporting a smartwatch doesn’t warrant quite as many inquisitive stares as it did some time ago. Read full story

Canon honours Emax, Carrefour, Media Square and Extra

Canon Middle East, a leader in imaging solutions, reinforced its commitment to channel partners at its latest regional awards. The awards formed part of a two-day ‘Imaging Inspired’ event that saw 170 decision makers from Canon’s tier one and tier two channel partners from across the Middle East region gather together. TP-Link launches SMB partner programme in MEA

Networking vendor TP-Link has unveiled an SMB partner programme for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. The launch event, which was held in Dubai, saw more than 60 systems integrators (SIs) from the UAE market attend, where TP-Link outlined its go-to-market strategy and R&D priorities. TP-Link claims that the launch of the SMB partner programme paves the way for the company to recruit and develop a select number of SI partners who will resell its SMB products and solutions in the region. Ingram Micro to host cloud event in Dubai

Distributor Aptec, an Ingram Micro company, will host its inaugural Cloud Summit 2016 event for channel partners and prospects across the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region later this month. Ingram Micro Cloud Summit META will take place in Dubai from November 13-15th. The event hopes to attract hundreds of the region’s solution providers, cloud service providers, cloud vendors, telcos, hosters, ISVs, and other cloud visionaries. Logicom extends Microsoft rights in Gulf

Distributor Logicom has expanded its distribution agreement with Microsoft to include UAE, Kuwait, and Oman. The deal now covers the entire Gulf region. Logicom is now an official distributor for Microsoft original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products and full packaged products (FPP) in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait and Oman.
