i2 breaks US$2bn sales barrier

Mobile phone distribution giant i2 has revealed that its gross sales hit US$2bn in 2007. i2, which has distribution and retail operations across the Middle East and Africa, doubled the number of Nokia handsets it sold year-on-year to 12.3 million in 2007 as gross sales rocketed 43%. Epson educates Saudi sales partners

Epson gathered together its Saudi Arabian partners this week for some intensive training on selling the vendor’s portfolio of business-focused products. Bullish Brother predicts sales surge

Brother Gulf reckons it can achieve 25% compound annual sales growth in the Midddle East for the next five years. The company, which boasts a portfolio of printing, communication and digital imaging poducts for homes, offices and enterprises, talked up its long-term growth potential at a dinner with its channel partners that also commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Brother Group. eSolutions Force, which is part of the MDS Group, has struck a Middle East partnership with CRM player Salesforce.com. eSolutions reckons that it will become one of the first companies in the region capable of delivering end-to-end solutions in this sector. eSolutions also claims that the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) market in the Middle East will be worth US$112m in full year 2008. Hardware vendor Fujitsu Siemens has beefed up its UAE channel reach with the appointment of Distributech as an SMB-focused distribution partner. Lenovo raids HP for new Middle East boss

PC giant Lenovo has named Khaled Kamel as its new general manager for the Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan region. Kamel joins Lenovo from close rival HP where he held the position of country manager with a strong focus on Saudi Arabia. Kamel’s CV also includes a stint as general manager of Heliopolis Computers. LS2 Derinton names new GM

LS2 Corporation has named Rajiv Srivastava as the new general manager of its IT distribution arm, LS2 Derinton. Srivastava brings more than two decades of sales, marketing, product and retail management to his new post. LS2 Derinton is focused on the distribution of Acer kit through retail channels in the Middle East and channel development in Africa.
