TP-Link promotes Neffos smartphone range

Networking vendor TP-Link is showcasing and promoting its Neffos smartphone range at Dubai’s Gitex Shopper consumer event this week. TP-Link reckons that launching its own devices in a crowded smartphone market is a shrewd move, allowing the vendor to set up a link with smart devices through standard protocol to create an ideal digital ecosystem for end users in the Middle East. Xtouch launches latest smartphone in UAE

Consumer electronics brand Xtouch has whipped the covers off its latest 4G LTE smartphone. The lightweight device, called Unix, features a touch fingerprint sensor, slim design, dual SIM capabilities and one-piece metal body. The new device is available at Dubai’s Gitex Shopper for AED786 (US$214) and comes with a free virtual reality (VR) headset worth AED199 (US$54). Read full story

TP-Link unveils upgrade campaign

Networking vendor TP-Link hopes that an upgrade your WiFi network campaign will sprinkle some sales stardust on its retail partners during this week’s Gitex Shopper event. TP-Link hopes that the promotional sales event will drive consumer sales of its routers, range extenders, 4G and 3G mobile WiFi, IP cameras and powerline products. Read full story

Malwarebytes to open Middle East operation

Malwarebytes, a malware prevention and remediation solutions supplier for consumers and businesses, will begin operations in the Middle East. The US-based firm will begin operations in Dubai in April and will look to build up its regional team in the coming weeks. TechAccess signs Blackberry distribution deal

Middle East VAD TechAccess has signed a distribution deal with Blackberry covering the GCC, KSA, Levant, North Africa and Pakistan. TechAccess will now offer the BlackBerry enterprise software portfolio as part of its services, which includes among others the recently introduced Good Secure EMM Suites by BlackBerry, a set of mobile security, management, productivity and collaboration offerings including app security and containerisation, identity and access management and enterprise file sync and share with file level data protection. Axiom launches new concept store in Dubai

Mobile device distributor and retailer Axiom Telecom recently launched a new concept store at Dubai Mall, combining cutting-edge technology with first-of-its-kind personalisation capability. The store included a dedicated zone called ‘XCustoms’ - a one-stop-shop for smartphone and tablet customisation in the UAE. TechAccess hosts cloud training session

TechAccess, a VAD covering the Middle East, North Africa, Levant and Pakistan, has held its first cloud training session in collaboration with Oracle. The database-as-a-service and enterprise management enablement session was conducted for 20 sales and pre-sales staff of five new partners. Souq.com secures US$275m funding

Souq.com, the Middle East’s largest online retail and marketplace platform, recently completed a funding round of more than US$275m, the largest financing of an e-commerce business in the Middle East, according to the company. Souq.com claims that the significant investment will support the company’s future growth, strengthen e-commerce in the region and empower more businesses to grow online through its platform.
