Tech Data Europe signs Google Chromecast deal

Distributor Tech Data Europe has announced a deal to manage the supply chain of Google’s indirect channel across Europe for its Chromecast media streaming device. Tech Data Mobile Solutions will provide complete fulfilment services for Google’s Chromecast devices, including logistics, transportation management, forecasting, procurement consolidation, inventory management, invoicing and collection. ZTE to open logistics centre in Greece

Networking and device vendor ZTE has signed an agreement to set up a new logistics centre for its products in Greece. China-based ZTE will use Piraeus container terminal (PCT) as a Greek logistics centre and will use the facility as a base for transiting its products into 12 major markets in Europe: Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus. Also acquires cloud specialist

Distribution giant Also has snapped up Finland-based cloud specialist Nervogrid Oy for an undisclosed sum. Nervogrid Oy specialises in the development of cloud brokerage enablement platforms with which the management of private, public, and hybrid cloud transactions can be automated and efficiently processed. The company will start trading under the name of Also Cloud Oy. Read full story

Tech Data Mobile plans SquareTrade offer

Distribution giant Tech Data Europe has announced plans to team up with mobile device protection plan provider SquareTrade. Tech Data Mobile Solutions would work with SquareTrade to provide Europe-wide device replacement to create a comprehensive, integrated solution for mobile carriers and retailers. Read full story

Wearable Technology Conference confirms keynote speakers

Next week’s Wearable Technology Conference (WTC) in London will include keynote speeches from Intel’s chief futurist and strategist, Steve Power Brown, plus Dave Evans, innovation guru for Cisco. Distributor Widget has added Olloclip to its portfolio in the UK. Widget’s UK channel customer base includes the likes of John Lewis, Dixons Retail and Firebox. Vandenbussche joins Tech Data Europe

Distribution giant Tech Data Europe has recruited Johan Vandenbussche to a newly created position as senior VP of operations. In his new role Vandenbussche will report to Néstor Cano, president of Europe at Tech Data. Vandenbussche brings a wealth of distribution experience to his new role having spent the last 15 years with rival distributor Ingram Micro. Read full story

Ingram Micro to implement European changes

Distribution giant Ingram Micro plans to implement a consistent pan-European operating model that the company claims will significantly improve the way it serves vendors, customers and other business partners. The restructuring announced also involves closing some warehouse facilities in Germany and Benelux. The distributor’s regional accounting centre, currently located in Barcelona, Spain, will also be relocated to Sofia in Bulgaria. Read full story

EET Europarts adds Motörheadphönes rights

EET Europarts has signed a pan-European distribution deal with headphones brand Motörheadphönes. The Motörheadphönes brand is focused on consumers with an appetite for rock and pop music. If it’s too loud, you’re too old, apparently. The two companies reckon that the target group of rock and pop music fans is actually larger than those who prefer club, dance and hip hop music, based on records of what music consumers actually stream.
