Asbis picks up Western Digital rights

Emerging markets distribution powerhouse Asbis has bolstered its storage portfolio, signing a comprehensive European distribution deal with Western Digital (WD). Under the terms of the deal, Asbis is authorised to sell WD hard drives for desktop, mobile, audio-video and enterprise storage applications across Europe and the CIS via distribution centres and offices located in more than 26 countries. Synaxon UK adds Ingram Micro

Reseller group Synaxon has signed an official supplier agreement with Ingram Micro in the UK. The deal means that Synaxon’s members will have access to the full range of products stocked by the broadline distribution giant. Synaxon claims to be Europe’s largest grouping of independent IT resellers. Read full story

Overland targets NetApp channel partners

Overland Storage will target NetApp channel partners and end-users through an aggressive swap-out campaign. The move follows NetApp’s announcement that it would withdraw support for its StoreVault entry-level storage range. Virtuity strikes exclusive UK deal with Bell

The security division of specialist VAD Bell Micro has struck an exclusive UK partnership agreement with Virtuity. Under the terms of the deal Bell Micro will support channel sales of Virtuity’s BackStopp software and service – a security solution protecting ‘at risk’ data on portable devices. Read full story

ComTrade Group snaps up Insoft

Fast-growing ComTrade Group has continued its acquisition policy in South East Europe, snapping up Sarajevo-based Insoft, a leading IT securities trading solutions provider in Bosnia and Herzegovina. McGregor appointed to Bell Micro board

Specialist VAD Bell Micro has appointed Colin McGregor to its board of directors. The promotion gives McGregor a wide remit with Bell’s European enterprise business – including the UK enterprise sales team, the HP and Symantec units, open storage, both the security and networking divisions as well as partner services. Rhub signs European deal with Siracom

Siracom, a communications solutions VAD, has been appointed as a European distributor for web conferencing appliance vendor Rhub’s TurboMeeting appliances. Siracom, which distributes both wired and wireless solutions, will focus on opening up the European market for Rhub’s solutions. Rhub reckons that its appliances are suitable for all customers from SMEs through to large corporations. Read full story

ATS picks up UK awards from Juniper

Juniper Networks has named Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS) as its 2008 UK distributor of the year. The accolade, in recognition of the VAD’s contribution to the channel, was awarded to ATS at networking vendor Juniper’s recent JUniversity. ATS’ marketing consultant Sue Elliott also picked up an award for marketing achievement from Juniper. Read full story

Lenovo picks CI solution for Europe

Lenovo has struck a deal to use a channel management solution from Channel Intelligence (CI) to manage its online and offline dealer channels in Europe. The CI solution will provide ‘where-to-buy’ functionality inside the web properties of Lenovo and its dealers. The solution has been implemented online and offline across several countries already with the European rollout continuing. Read full story
