Comtek pushes European RMA service

Comtek Network Systems will offer its regional return material authorisation (RMA) service to overseas vendors, providing them with a range of administrative, logistic and technical services to manage the process of replacing in and out of warranty hardware products across Europe. Comtek has set up three European RMA and repair facilities and reckons that third party vendors can cut costs and improve the speed and efficiency of replacing hardware kit by using its service. Elko extends MSI rights to Croatia

Distribution outfit Elko has extended its distribution deal with MSI to cover the Croatian market. The two companies are building on an existing distribution relationship that covered the Baltic States and CIS region. As an official MSI distributor in Croatia, Elko will focus on building and developing routes-to-market for the vendor’s portfolio of components and notebooks. Read full story

Also announces full year results

European distribution giant Also has announced its full year results for 2008. Sales climbed 5% year-on-year to US$4.18 billion with net losses of US$9.7m. Also reckons that the cost of closing its operations in Poland and Sweden knocked close to US$30m off its bottom line. Also has decided to forgo a dividend payout for financial year 2008 but expects to return to a profitable position in 2009. Read full story

Esprinet boosts fourth quarter profits

Southern European distribution powerhouse Esprinet has reported fourth quarter sales of US$924.7m – up 0.4% year-on-year. After-tax profits climbed 21% to US$13.6m. Full year sales for 2008 slipped just 2% year-on-year at US$3bn with after tax profits falling 23% to US$30.7m. Esprinet showed some resiliency in its Italian operation in 2008 but results were dragged down by the distributor’s loss making Iberian business. Read full story

Samsung prepares PPP launch

Samsung’s European printing operation will whip the covers off its new ‘Power Partner Programme’ (PPP) in the second quarter of 2009, launching the pilot version of its channel programme in the UK, Benelux and Spain. Samsung plans to roll out PPP across the 42 countries it covers in Europe during the rest of the year. Read full story

Dell celebrates European channel birthday

Hardware giant Dell is celebrating the first birthday of its PartnerDirect channel programme in Europe. Dell reckons that European partners have reacted well to its channel programme thanks to the vendor’s straightforward and simple approach, transparent framework and willingness to listen to partners. Lagercrantz signs exclusive BlueCat deal

Swedish VAD Lagercrantz Communication has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with IP address management (IPAM) solutions provider BlueCat Networks. The decision to focus on BlueCat represents a change of vendor allegiance for Lagercrantz.
