HOME Unified threat management (UTM) device vendor Cyberoam has signed up Renaissance as a VAD partner in Ireland. Under the tems of the agreement, Renaissance will distribute and support the Cyberoam range of UTM appliances in Ireland, expanding its security offering to the channel.

VAD outfit Magirus has been named EMEA education partner of the year by VMware. Magirus managed to train more than 4,300 partner and end-user professionals on VMware solutions during the year. Magirus claimed that the award underlined the value that it provides to partners as the largest and best-equipped VMware trainer in Europe.

VAD outfit Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS) has struck a UK distribution deal with intelligent cybersecurity solutions vendor Sourcefire. Under the terms of the agreement, ATS will provide the Sourcefire 3D system, an intelligent security infrastructure for information security management, to VAR partners in the UK.

Tech Data has been awarded European distribution rights for Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (GST) full range of products. The distribution giant reckons that the deal adds further strength and depth to its portfolio of storage products. Hitachi GST’s product range addresses a broad range of markets, from notebook and consumer PCs to enterprise data centres.

Tech Data publishes latest results
NASDAQ-quoted Tech Data has revealed its fourth quarter numbers. Global sales for the quarter ending January 31st 2010 climbed 10% year-on-year to hit US$6.3 billion. Operating margin fell year-on-year from 1.73% to 1.5%, resulting in operating profits of US$94.2m for fourth quarter 2009. Global after-tax profits were up 23% at US$70m.

European VAD outfit Zycko has struck a distribution deal with data protection solutions supplier Falconstor. Under the terms of the agreement, Zycko will offer a range of data protection solutions featuring Falconstor software alongside Hitachi Data Systems’ (HDS) storage subsystems. Zycko is already a European distributor for HDS. The new solutions will be available immediately for Zycko’s channel customer base in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

A-Server launches certified reseller programme
A-Server, a provider of managed services for IT resellers, has launched a new certified partner reseller programme. The new programme, which is available to all 350 registered A-Server resellers in Europe, claims to offer better margins, training courses, cash back and MDF benefits to partners reselling A-Server’s SMB-focused business continuity services. The new scheme is based on a three-tier certification programme.
