PC channel clear out continues in third quarter

The latest data from research house Context indicates that the European channel continued to clear out old PC inventory during the third quarter of 2011. Context reckons that vendors started slashing prices in the third quarter, meaning that despite a year-on-year increase in unit sales, overall revenues were down as average selling prices (ASPs) dropped. STK builds channel reach in Romania

Mobile accessories vendor STK has teamed up with Arsis Trading to boost its retail reach in Romania. STK - a brand operated by product vendor Santok - hopes that the deal will increase its visibility across Central and Eastern Europe. Arsis Trading is the leading retail partner of Vodafone in Romania and will purchase STK products through distribution outfit Mobiup. Read full story

Saturn moves to bricks and clicks

German retail giant Saturn has at long last whipped the covers off an e-tailer website, transforming the company into a multichannel retailer. The retailer is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and reckons that the move is one of the ‘greatest strategic changes’ in the company’s history. Read full story

Lillywhite promoted at Integralis

IT security and information risk management solutions provider Integralis has promoted Neal Lillywhite to the position of UK managing director. Lillywhite previously served as director of sales and marketing at the company. In his new role, Lillywhite will be responsible for the delivery of Integralis’ portfolio of managed security, consulting and technology integration services to UK customers, with the support of major shareholder, NTT. Monie returns to Ingram Micro

Alain Monie has returned to global distribution giant Ingram Micro to become president and COO, a position he held from 2007 to 2010 after leading the company’s Asia-Pacific region. From November 1st, Monie will take responsibility for Ingram Micro’s operating units and will report into CEO Greg Spierkel. Read full story

Analysts forecast Polish growth

The 2011 sales revenues of three of Poland’s largest quoted distributors are expected to climb by 10% in 2011, according to estimates from Erste Securities. Analysts at Erste reckon that the growth for AB, ABC Data and Action will be driven mainly by demand from the corporate sector. Read full story

Synaxon adds DCI in UK

Reseller group Synaxon has formed a partnership with DCI Jet Tec, the UK’s largest manufacturer of compatible and remanufactured inkjets and toners. The agreement gives Synaxon’s 700-plus members in the UK simplified access to DCI Jet Tec’s full range of ink products and accessories for printers and multi-function devices. Read full story

Reevoo launches ‘trusted reviews’ manifesto

Online review site Reevoo wants to clamp down on some of the problems afflicting consumer reviews available on websites. Reevoo hopes that its new ‘trusted review’ manifesto will help to stamp out fake reviews, paid-for reviews and even the selective display of only positive reviews.
