Panasonic expands rugged notebook market share in Europe

Panasonic has cemented its position as Europe’s leading rugged mobile computing manufacturer in the latest market analysis from VDC Research. With its Panasonic Toughbook range, the company extended its market-leading share of the European rugged notebook market with a 67% revenue share of sales in 2016. The Panasonic Toughpad tablet range continued to lead the rugged tablet market with a 56% revenue share of sales and the company’s expansion into the rugged handheld market accelerated with year-on-year growth of 176%. Asia-based gaming laptop brand Thunderobot hopes to make its mark in Europe. The company is introducing the ST-PLUS laptop, its best-selling international product, in European markets. Carlos Patón, product manager in Europe for Thunderobot, said: “Our product is designed in detail by gamers for gamers, players who know very well what they need in terms of hardware and accessories. Tech Data appoints Zammit as European boss

Distribution giant Tech Data has appointed Patrick Zammit as president, Tech Data Europe. Zammit will report into Tech Data’s executive VP and COO, Rich Hume. Zammit was formerly global president, Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS), prior to the acquisition by Tech Data. He previously led Avnet’s Electronics Marketing (EM) EMEA components business and held leadership roles across finance, operations and strategic planning at Avnet. ActiveJet eyes international expansion

Supplies and accessories brand ActiveJet will use DISTREE EMEA as a platform for further international channel expansion. ActiveJet, a brand operated by Polish distribution giant Action, focuses on three product categories: imaging and printing supplies, energy products and accessories. Panasonic Toughbook appoints European partner manager

Panasonic Toughbook has appointed Sylvaine Smith as its head of partner management for Europe to further expand its share of the rugged notebook, tablet and handheld markets with industry solution-focused partnerships. Panasonic claims to hold 66% share of European revenues for rugged notebooks and convertibles, and 59% revenue share for rugged tablets, meaning the Panasonic Toughbook and Toughpad range sold more devices across Europe than the rest of the rugged notebook and tablet competition combined.
