HOME Also-Actebis deal reshapes European distribution channel
The proposed merger of Actebis and Also will create the third largest IT and consumer electronics distribution company in Europe with annual sales of approximately US$9.8 billion. Actebis is a subsidiary of Droege International while publicly listed Also is a subsidiary of Schindler Holding. The deal is subject to approval from competition authorities.

Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) has extended its distribution deal with Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) to cover Denmark and Germany. Arrow ECS already held HDS rights in the US and Poland. The new deal enables Arrow ECS to further expand its storage systems and data-management software portfolio in Denmark and Germany, providing solutions for storage virtualisation, advanced data replication, and cloud computing.

Mobile distributor Brightstar Europe, a joint venture between Tech Data and Brightstar, has revealed details of the business benefits expected from its acquisition of Mobil Communication Compnay (MCC) in the Netherlands and Belgium. The deal with MCC, currently part of Triade Group, forms part of a separate planned acquisition by Tech Data of Triade Group, which includes several subsidiaries in the IT and consumer electronics distribution markets.

Distribution giant Tech Data is buying Benelux and Denmark-based consumer electronics and mobility channel focused Triade Holding. Tech Data reckons that the deal strengthens its IT and mobility offerings and provides a platform for its expansion into Europe’s consumer electronics market. In a related deal, Brightstar Europe – a joint venture between Tech Data and Brightstar – is acquiring Triade Mobile Communication Compnay (MCC), a mobility specialist in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Fujitsu Frontech North America has signed Stordis as its first EMEA distributor for the Fujitsu XG series of Ethernet switches. The Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) reckons that the IT industry recovery is continuing to gain strength, driven by stronger US sales and stabilising conditions in Europe. GTDC claims that second quarter sales in Europe were up 15% year-on-year.
