Seiko Precision highlights margin potential
Seiko Precision plans to highlight the margin potential of its printing products to distributors at next year’s DISTREE XXL EMEA channel event. The company’s two brands - Seiko Precision and Seiko Instruments - offer a portfolio of dot matrix printer, time server and time recorder as well as smart label printers. Seiko Precision claims that its product portfolio offers distributors a business opportunity characterised by high margins and long-term customer relationships.

IC Intracom has whipped the covers off new channel websites for its two product brands. Manhattan focuses on PC components, peripherals, cables and accessories while Intellinet specialises in active and passive networking equipment. DNS Arrow picks up EMEA Citrix distributor award
Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) has announced that its DNS Arrow unit has been selected as Citrix’s EMEA distributor of the year. DNS Arrow, which has distributed Citrix solutions since 1994, was selected in recognition of its knowledge, experience and strategy in the virtualisation space.

Global distribution giant Tech Data recorded a US$23.5m foreign currency exchange loss in the quarter ending October 2008, with three quarters of the amount lost associated with the European region. Overall, Tech Data reported global sales of US$6.1 billion – up 3.8% year-on-year – with after-tax profits down 55% at US$18.4m.

Asbis reports third quarter figures
Emerging markets distributor Asbis reckons that its ‘solid foundation’ will allow it to ride out the current global financial crisis and emerge even stronger. The confident claim came as Asbis reported third quarter sales for 2008 up 15.1% year-on-year to US$427.3m. Despite the sales growth, third quarter net profits almost halved year-on-year to US$3.2m – an after-tax profit margin of just 0.7%.
