AOC launches AGON gaming brand

Display specialist AOC has officially launched its new gaming brand: AGON. All future AOC gaming product releases will be under the AGON name. AGON will also encompass AOC’s future gaming-related activities and social media voice. Some of AOC’s existing gaming displays, previously grouped together with other products, will be rebranded under AGON. The decision to launch a dedicated gaming brand highlights the growing importance of this growth market to consumer technology brands of all sizes. Read full story

Periscope identifies retailers’ omnichannel woes

Periscope, a McKinsey Solution focusing on price, promotion, and assortment optimisation, has today announced the findings of its latest retailer research. Only 21% of retailers say they are more confident than a year ago on delivering omnichannel experiences, and 45% say progress is not happening fast enough, according to the research. Read full story

One in two would consider sharing smart home data for cash

A worldwide survey by Intel Security has revealed that 54% of respondents would consider sharing their personal data collected from their smart home with companies in exchange for money. A whopping 70% agreed that companies should give coupons and discounts to customers in return for data about device usage, according to a survey of 9,000 global consumers sponsored by Intel Security. The survey also found that 77% of respondents believe smart homes will be as common in 2025 as smartphones are today, but 66% are also very concerned about smart home data being hacked by cybercriminals. Application performance infrastructure solutions provider Riverbed Technology has appointed Giovanni Di Filippo as VP channel sales for EMEA. Di Filippo will have overall responsibility for Riverbed’s evolving channel and go-to-market strategy in order to maximise customer value, expand new routes to market and lead the channel sales team to drive growth and revenue through our partner ecosystem. Security solutions vendor Bitdefender has promoted Mihaela Paun to VP of consumer sales and marketing, and Ciprian Istrate to VP of consumer solutions, to further accelerate the development of the company. Distributor winners announced for ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2016 Awards’ at DISTREE EMEA

The ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2016 Awards’ were held in conjunction with regional channel event DISTREE EMEA 2016. These included a series of 11 awards for technology and consumer electronics (CE) distributors, with the winners announced at a Gala Dinner at Salle des Etoiles in Monaco held on Friday February 26th. A total of nine distributors received awards with Ingram Micro and Tech Data winning two apiece, and 2BY2, ABC Data, Asbis, Comtrade, EET Group, Esquire and Marvel winning one each. Read full story
