OpenSpan rouses Raby for EMEA mission

Service-oriented architecture platform player OpenSpan has appointed Steve Raby as VP sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). OpenSpan generated 40% of its 2007 sales from outside North America and the company is keen to realise the significant growth opportunities that exist in overseas markets. Rectron signs up Samsung and Epson

South African channel giant Rectron has expanded its vendor portfolio, signing a deal with Samsung to distribute the vendor giant’s complete range of mono and colour laser printers and consumables across the country. Rectron has also struck a new distribution agreement with Epson. The deals come just weeks after HP and Rectron ended a printer distribution agreement. Read full story

Blouin takes on tough job at Bell

Bell Microproducts has named Marc Blouin as VP finance and chief accounting officer. In his new role Bouin will look after Bell’s accounting operations and corporate accounting functions, such as consolidations, SEC reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Blouin faces a tough first few weeks at Bell. The company was delisted from NASDAQ last week for failing to file overdue reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Read full story

Unified threat management (UTM) solutions vendor Fortinet has tweaked its EMEA channel engagement model with a series on enhancements to the FortiPartner Programme (FPP). The four-tier FPP focuses on value, commitment and incentive through benefits such as attractive profit margins, discount promotions, technology leadership and a superior certification programme, according to Fortinet. Bell Micro delisted from NASDAQ

Bell Microproducts has been delisted from NASDAQ for failing to file overdue reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The value-added distributor has stated that it, ‘is working diligently to complete this process and will promptly seek relisting of its common stock once completed’. Read full story

Seagate rejigs for greater consumer focus

Hard drive vendor Seagate Technology has formed a new department to focus on growing opportunities in the consumer electronics (CE) sector. Seagate has formed a consumer solutions division, which is comprised of the company’s CE business unit plus the former Seagate branded solutions business, which was dedicated to delivering branded storage solutions under the Seagate and Maxtor brands. BridgeHead strikes worldwide Avnet deal

Enterprise data archiving software vendor BridgeHead has struck a worldwide distribution agreement with Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS). Under the terms of the deal value-added distributor ATS will offer BridgeHead’s archiving and backup software products to its reseller channel with an initial focus on the healthcare market.
