Infoblox debuts new channel programme
Network control solutions outfit Infoblox has whipped the covers off a new channel programme designed to help channel partners access new opportunities and boost profitability. The new partner programme, which is called ‘Invest & Profit’ (IP), is designed to help channel partners address pressing enterprise IT issues including virtualisation, cloud, datacentre consolidation, security, compliance and IPv6 readiness.

Asbis adds Cygnett and Griffin
Emerging markets distribution powerhouse Asbis has boosted its product portfolio, striking deals with accessories vendors Cygnett and Griffin. The exclusive deal with Cygnett, a fast-growing brand in the Apple accessories space, covers 28 countries that Asbis operates in. The new distribution deal with Griffin covers 29 countries, according to Asbis.

ECA 2012 – DISTRIBUTOR WINNERS
The ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2012 Awards’ once again recognised distribution excellence across the region. Now in their fourth year, the awards give vendors the opportunity to nominate and select their preferred distributors by region, with the overall winner in each category decided by a live electronic vote. Ingram Micro put in a strong performance, winning three of the ten geographic categories up for grabs. There was also an award for the EMEA Distributor Initiative of the Year with the overall winner, EET Group, selected by a VIP channel jury.

The ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2012 Awards’ took place on Thursday February 9th in Monaco in conjunction with DISTREE EMEA, the region’s premier annual consumer channel event. Now in their fourth year, the awards recognise channel excellence with hundreds of distributors and retailers from across EMEA voting live for their preferred vendors in 12 product categories. Across the 12 categories a total of 10 different vendors picked up awards with only Microsoft and Samsung winning in multiple categories.

DAY 3 – Whitman claims HP has got its swagger back
Most CEOs hit the stage on day one of a global partner summit to lay down the strategy and enable other executives to stay ‘on message’ for the rest of the conference. The 3,000-plus delegates at HP’s global partner summit in Las Vegas had to wait until day three to hear from Meg Whitman, president and CEO at the vendor giant. Whitman made the right pro-channel noises during her keynote this morning and the clarity of her message was applauded by partners. DAY 2 – ‘Partnership is the only way we know at HP...’
Day two of the HP global partner conference in Las Vegas kicked off with keynote speeches from Vyomesh Joshi, executive VP at HP IPG, and Todd Bradley, executive VP at HP PSG. HP adds services to ease supplier sprawl
Vendor giant HP has introduced a range of new services designed to enable enterprises to integrate, manage and govern complex multivendor environments. HP reckons that the new services will result in reduced risk and costs for enterprises. The new HP service integration and management offering gives enterprises a single view into multisourced services, including cloud services, whether provisioned internally by IT or externally by non-IT business groups.

DAY 1 - HP silent on smartphone strategy (for now)
Day one of the HP global partner conference in Las Vegas is drawing to a close and the vendor giant has been quick out of the blocks with a number of announcements relating to services, infrastructure and channel-led cloud offerings. On the PSG side, there were inevitable questions regarding HP’s future strategy in the tablet and smartphone product segments, but clear cut answers were thin on the ground. In one press session, Todd Bradley, executive VP of PSG, said: “Right now our focus looking ahead is on Windows 8 tablets. Frankly, we have some strategic work to do on the role we are playing in the smartphone space and we’re not prepared to talk about that.”
