Consumer technology: a trillion dollar market?

Persuading European consumers to invest in smart home solutions has been a tough challenge for the industry to date, but a new breed of connected devices and point solutions could help trigger a mass market breakthrough. Speaking at a recent connected home conference, Greg Roberts, VP marketing at connected home platform provider Icontrol Networks, said: “We are now seeing compelling connected devices in the market – point solutions. Smart home demand hampered by poor consumer marketing

ZigBee 3.0 unifies wireless standards

The ZigBee Alliance, a non-profit association of organisations creating open, global standards that define the Internet of Things (IoT) for use in consumer, commercial and industrial applications, has announced the unification of its market-leading wireless standards to a single standard named ZigBee 3.0. This standard will provide interoperability among the widest range of smart devices and give consumers and businesses access to innovative products and services that will work together seamlessly to enhance everyday life, according to Zigbee.
