Krusell reveals first quarter top seller list

Accessories brand Krusell has released its top seller list for the first quarter of 2018. The list of devices is based on the number of pieces of custom made mobile and smartphone cases ordered from Krusell during the first quarter of 2018. The list reflects the sales of phones on six continents and in more than 50 countries around the globe. Apple’s iPhone 8 took top spot on Krusell’s first quarter top sellers list, with devices from Samsung, Huawei and Sony also appearing in the rankings. Read full story

Middle East tech retail channel feels VAT impact

The Middle East consumer tech retail channel has experienced a rollercoaster during the last few months, mainly due to the introduction of 5% VAT in the UAE and Saudi Arabia on the 1st January 2018. Sales in December 2017 were buoyant with many consumers choosing to purchase big-ticket items prior to the implementation. This sales boom then gave way to a sharp sales drop-off in January 2018, according to market reports and analyst insights. Read full story

Russian market value hits US$24.5 billion in 2017

Research house GfK’s most recent TEMAX analysis of the ICT, telecoms and consumer electronics market in Russia indicates that the total market value hit US$7.61 billion in the fourth quarter of 2017 – up 4.3% year-on-year. For calendar 2017, the total value of the market exceeded US$24.5 billion, highlighting the significant and growing market opportunity for tech brands within Russia. Read full story

DISTREE Events channel survey identifies Gaming, Smart Home and Lifestyle Tech as top growth categories for 2018

DISTREE Events has announced preliminary findings from its annual Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) consumer tech distributor survey. The in-depth survey was completed by more than 100 distributors between December 4th 2017 and 9th January 2018. Distributors were asked to assess which product categories represented the best growth potential for their business in calendar 2018. The standout category was Gaming, with 54% of distributors identifying it as a top three product segment for sales growth potential in 2018. Read full story

Services core to distribution business models

Distribution in 2018 has moved a long way from pick, pack and ship of IT products, and has substantially broadened its offering with a wide range of services, claims a new report from IT Europa focusing on European distributors.
