Headphone sales to hit US$21 billion in 2018

Research house Futuresource reckons that the global headphones market value will hit US$21 billion in 2018. The appeal of audio headphones continues to attract consumers, with a 4% increase in shipments forecast for 2018 and a 23% growth in retail value, according to a new industry report from Futuresource Consulting. CONTEXT data highlights distribution growth

The IT channel has had a strong start to 2018 with a combined first half year-on-year growth rate in distribution of 5.1%, according to CONTEXT, the IT market intelligence company. Resellers in most countries more optimistic about the coming 12 months than they were a year ago. Dixons Carphone and GfK agree information partnership

Dixons Carphone and GfK have today announced the signing of a partnership to share physical and online sales information. Audio device sales hit US$5.23 billion in first half of 2018

Research house GfK has announced that global sales of audio devices hit US$5.23 billion in the first half of 2018 – an increase of 5% year-on-year. GfK also claims that there is still growth potential in smart devices with embedded voice assistants or high-performance features that enhance the listening experience. Revenues for headphones and headsets contributed US$2.33 billion with 59 million units sold in the first half of 2018. Europe (without CIS) and APAC accounted for more than 85% of the global headphone and headset revenues. Read full story

DISTREE EMEA drives new distribution deals

DISTREE Events has revealed the findings of its post-event distributor research* for DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2018, which took place in Monaco in February. Based on this year’s findings, there was an average of 4.02 signed distribution agreements per exhibitor at DISTREE EMEA 2018, with a further 4.27 currently under negotiation for each participating brand. EMEA printer hardware shipments climb

Unit shipments of printer hardware to Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) grew by 3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2018. The positive performance was largely due to increased sell-in in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) and Central and Eastern European (CEE) regions, which was sufficient to offset declines across Western Europe (WE), according to data published by CONTEXT, the IT market intelligence company.
