CD3 determined to develop Discgear channels

Best Buy eyes new sales channels

Spain-based consumer electronics and computer products vendor Best Buy (not to be confused with the US retail giant) will look to open up new retail channels for its extensive portfolio at DISTREE XXL 2009. Best Buy plans to take full advantage of DISTREE XXL’s one-on-one meeting scheduler to identify and meet the importers, distributors and retailers across the EMEA theatre that can open and develop new channels to market. Office Depot signs Middle East franchise deal

Office Depot has set its sights on the Middle East retail market. The office products retail giant has signed a franchise agreement with international retailer M.H. Alshaya covering Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman. The first four Office Depot retail stores are set to open in 2009 in Kuwait City and Dubai. Read full story

Sharaf DG bags Co-Op spot in Dubai

Consumer electronics and IT retailer Sharaf DG has struck a deal with UAE-based hypermarket chain Union Co-Operative Society. The partnership has seen Sharaf DG open a 25,000 square foot retail outlet in Union Co-Op’s Al Wasl road branch in Dubai. Read full story

Jumbo Unwired opens in Dubai Mall

UAE retail giant Jumbo has opened its latest store on level two of the recently opened Dubai Mall. The new store, which stocks only notebooks, mobile phones and associated products, represents a new concept for Jumbo. The new concept is referred to as ‘Jumbo Unwired’ and the Dubai Mall outlet was opened by Vidya Chhabria, Jumbo Group chairperson. Read full story

Sharaf DG opens concept store

UAE retail outfit Sharaf DG has opened its latest concept store in the Mankhool area of Dubai. The 5,000 square foot Sharaf DG 4U concept store will stock the fastest moving items across a number of product categories including mobile phones, digital cameras, notebooks, TVs and audio systems. Cautious retailers reject ‘free laptop’ customers

A broadband comparison website has revealed that UK mobile providers and retailers are together turning away half of all the applications they receive from customers for a mobile broadband contract, which includes a free laptop as part of the package. Despite the tough economic backdrop, the mobile providers and retailers are rejecting 50% of all applicants after running stringent credit checks. Read full story
