Jacky’s shows appetite for summer sales

UAE-based retail chain Jacky’s Electronics has launched a summer promotion offering its customers US$270,000 of free meal vouchers during the next six weeks. Jacky’s has teamed up with Hot Brands International for the offer, which gives customers the chance to pick up vouchers for free meals redeemable at a number of different restaurant chains. Russian IT companies are facing up to a tough economic outlook in 2009. These companies are making the necessary changes to their organisations to emerge stronger once the market picks up. Merlion launches Citilink retail concept

Russian distribution giant Merlion is expanding its retail footprint through Citilink, its latest project aimed at advanced PC users. Citlink has been set up by Merlion as a fully-fledged retail project offering customers two methods of purchasing: an online e-commerce store or through an in-store electronic terminal. Merlion claims that Citilink’s e-commerce store is already attracting hundreds of shoppers each day. Read full story

Over 350 attendees voted live on 20th May 2009 to select winners in 22 categories – 11 retail categories, 2 distributor and 9 vendor categories. Hosted by DISTREE Events, the organisers of leading ICT and consumer electronics channel events in the EMEA region, over 150 retailers voted for the winners in the vendor and distributor categories while a panel of 50 vendor representatives voted for the retailer categories. Iris eyes new distributor

Optical character recognition specialist Iris Group is attending this year’s Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) MEA to show retailers from across the Middle East its complete range of mobile scanning devices. Iris continues to build and strengthen its channel-to-market. Almasa snaps up Delta

Almasa IT Distribution has confirmed its acquisition of Middle East retail distributor Delta Business Products. Talks between the two companies had been ongoing for some time as first revealed by Channel EMEA in late March. The deal bolsters Almasa’s presence in the retail channel and enhances its product and service offering for power retailers across the region. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Read full story

DCC MEA inauguration ceremony confirmed
